This summer we have noticed that Rocky is shedding way more than usual. Just wondering if others are noticing this in the New York, new Jersey area. Wondering if the strange climate we have been having has something to do with it. Now we have had a colder summer and alot of rain. Not as humid as usual. His diet has not changed. He does not seem to be itchier than usual. He has always been somewhat of a scratcher but not doing any more than what is normal for him. But when you pet him his hair comes out like crazy. Like when you take them to the vet and they shed all over cause they are nervous.

Luca's shedding like crazy, as well. Not sure if it's more than usual, but the hair is coming off him in droves.
I remember before I got my first APBT, I mentioned something to the breeder about the breed not being a shedder (well, excessively) and he just laughed and said, "Oh, they shed like CRAZY". I said, well, compared to my double coated breeds (Sibes and GSDs) no they don't. But even so, I found out they shed a lot more than expected.

Phew ok good cause my husband and kids were getting worried. They were afraid he might loose all his hair. Hard to believe that a dog who is practically naked could shed so much. Must be this crazy weather. Does this mean we are going to have a bad winter?

My dogs have been leaving a lot of hair around the house too. I'm in MI and our summer has benn much less humid and lower temps as well. I never would have thought they would shed as much as they are either. Oh well just have to vacuum more often I guess

It must have something to do with the weird weather. Usually, the heavy shedding happens early in the season and towards the end. It's been early fall-like weather here, maybe Luca's fur is confused. LOL

Chloe has really bad dandruff. We've tried flaxseed oil in her food and it didnt work, we've tried the oatmeal shampoos and all the different conditioners and they dont work either, anyone have any other suggestions?????

I'm glad I read this post. Lola has never shed much except between winter and summer, which is to be expected. Ergo, on the other hand, sheds like there is no tomorrow. It's more of a recent development too. I was kinda wondering the same thing- if it was normal or not. Of course the dog with the RED FUR has to be the one that sheds ALL the time! *Sigh* The joys of pet ownership.

Both Otter and Boon (my BSD) are shedding like crazy this summer. This is the first time I have not been able to keep up with it. . .White hair everywhere and black tumble weeds rolling through the home. . .

I swear. Hahahaha!! ROTFL!! ;D Havent u got the email, little dogs r perfect, when they bite it's cute, when they pee on the floor people laugh, when they hump ur leg it's entertainment. When a big dog does any of this, it ends up in the shelter.
