I just realized that Lucy was due for her shots last month and I didn't get any sort of notification from my vet. I have never gone to a vet that didn't at least send a little notification postcard. This is a fancy vet in a nice part of town too. Man, I know I have been saying this forever but I really need to switch vet's offices.
Am I over thinking it because they have been skeevy with me in the past, or is it really weird that they didn't let me know?

It could have simply beem human error. Depending on the program they run, if the receptionist forgot to run the report for postcards on a particular day, and waited too long, then didn't change the "back to" date, then some dates don't get post cards. Also, if some of the batch printed wrong for some reason, and the recept didn't go back and reprint the ones that needed it. Or, if they keyed the vaccine entry or reminder entry incorrectly, and the comp and the recept didn't catch the error... Lots of things can go wrong on a simple task like printing vaccine reminders. I have ten years exp working at clinics, two of those managing them. Unfortunately, printing reminders isn't idiot proof, and some people think the computer is going to do everything with the puch of a button, and they don't double check their work.
As to whether or not you should change vets.. who knows? But I wouldn't assumet heyd id this on purpose. Lots could have gone wrong.

I agree with Garland that it could have just been an oversight on the vet's office or maybe you never got the reminder...postal service is always not reliable either. It sounds like there our other reasons that you are contemplating switiching vets and if this is the case then only you can answer whether or not those other "issues" warrant trying out another vet. I think we can all agree how important it is to feel comfortable and confident with the vets we have chosen to care for our pets.

well, maybe you're lucky that this vet doesn't push unnecessary vaccines? You DONT need yearly vax (medically speaking) for your dog

haha. No, this isn't why my vet sucks but I just wanted to know if it was unusual for them not to send one. It isn't unnecessary vaccines, it is her booster and rabies. she is only 1 1/2 years old AND I need the vaccines to legally bring my dog to work with me. My vet sucks for other reasons as in they overcharge people for things that they don't even do a check up on during a recession I am going to switch, not because of this. I put it in my head that I would switch once I got the reminder but now I think I have to stick it out for one more session with this vet to get her vaccines done quickly and not interrupt her heartworm prescription too. Blah. But thanks for explaining that clerical errors do happen, I never thought about that. I just have never felt "welcome" at my vet and it just makes things worse. I am going to ask them about it when I go to the appt though.

Tank ...
Did you order the 3 year rabies shots and forgot about it, usually the vet clinics do not send out notices until the end of the three year period is up

SO I went back to the same vet and was a little bit happier with the service. I went to the vet that checked her out thoroughly last time even though she didn't have an exam. I might just stick with her. She answered my questions and didn't just give me short answers and that is exactly what I am looking for. Lucy did better with her anyhow. The last time when she had the guy she wouldn't let him touch her but then 2 weeks later when she saw her, she let her inspect everything. This time she was even better with her touching her all over except for her back area. She has always been weird about that because of all of the anal gland expression she went through for a little while I think. She lets me do it, she just cowers a bit and gets really embarrassed and tries to clean it up herself right away.
