Check it out! I want a copy!!! ;D beautifulbullys.blogspot.com/2009/04/about-book-beautiful-bullys-is-well.html#commentsI only wish people would use the breed's real name, APBT, instead of this term 'bullys' which is also being applied to just about any bull breed or 'type', and deflects from the actual breed that is being portrayed. (Not to mention it is bad grammar ) **Runs and hides before she is smacked for being such a nit-picky beeotch!**

gak! I hate boxers being lumped in with "bullies". In fact, I don't much like the "bully" term when it encompasses the bulldog breeds as well as the bull-and-terrier breeds.

Hehehe. Well, then I guess Bama Bully really hacks everyone off with our grammatically incorrect, lumping name.

Hehehe. Well, then I guess Bama Bully really hacks everyone off with our grammatically incorrect, lumping name. Oh boy, I stuck my foot in my mouth with this one.....Garland, I am soooo sorry if I insulted you. Please please please forgive me, I LOVE Bama Bully - as an entity, the people, and the name too! I meant "bullys" is improper in terms of plural spelling ("if ending in Y add IES"). "Bullies" would be proper. And I don't have a problem with the term being used to encompass "all the various bull breeds" like Bama does! Bama in my book uses the term correctly. The subtitle of this book's blog is: A wonderfully positive book about American Pit Bull TerriersSo I'm confused why they didn't just call the book Beautiful American Pit Bull Terriers or "Beautiful Pit Bulls" something like that (I guess not as lyrical sounding). I just hate that the name "American Pit Bull Terrier" seems to be anathama in the rescue world right now.

Garland, will do! Also ordered the Banned Americans coffee table book will let you know how that it as well! In the off chance that you are not familiar with it.... Banned Americans is a coffee table photo book showcasing American Pit Bull Terriers and their masters living in a Breed Specific Legislation environment

Okay, I am going to weight in on this one.... I know surprise. We use Bullys to set apart from Bullies (as in meanies on the playground) So I stand next to BULLYS instead of bullies trying to use grammar correction. Good gosh, Mary is the grammar/spelling nazi.

LMAO!!!! Yes!! One thing I have learned and continue to learn from Mary is correct use of the English language!! She is the bomb with that for sure!! It's always good to learn =)
Btw Mary, I believe you spelled "anathama" wrong. I didn't know what it meant so I looked it up and the closest thing I found was anathema. Not sure though, so I could be wrong...just thought it was funny with all the talk of correct grammar, spelling, and usage! =P

..... The subtitle of this book's blog is: A wonderfully positive book about American Pit Bull TerriersSo I'm confused why they didn't just call the book Beautiful American Pit Bull Terriers or "Beautiful Pit Bulls" something like that (I guess not as lyrical sounding).... What's weird is that's the subtitle but then it says "Beautiful Bullys is a well thought out photographic portrayal of what society considers "bully breed" type dogs. It will take readers on a captivating journey with photographs, stories and owner memoirs. The reader will find the majority of dogs featured in this book are American Pit Bull Terriers, but will also find American Staffordshire Terriers, Boxers, Bulldogs, mixed breeds and more." They're contradicting, the subtitle should definitely read differently. I love the concept of the book, use the term "Bully" in the sense that BBR does because they've included several "bully" breeds in the book, but then the subtitle only includes APBT. silly people.

Yes, thank you Melinda! My thoughts exactly. I have found in general people VERY confused about breed names/types, and lots of people doing advocacy work really have a very weak knowledge of the dogs they are advocating for. I very often see the term 'bullys' used interchangeably with 'American Pit Bull Terrier' as if 'bully' referred to one breed, but then also use it when referring to multiple breeds.
I guess now we are lumping Boxers into the mix. Let's further pollute the waters of confusion. Sigh.

"Bully" should be short for "bullbreed" which really meant "bull-terrier breeds" i.e. APBT, AST, SBT, BT and maybe bostons. Now it also means all the bulldog breeds (like American bulldog, French bulldog) as well as the so called "American bullies" those APBT-bulldog/mastiff mixes. And to include boxers.. well, this all just plays into the hands of the "a pit bull is anything I say it is" killers/banners
