Thought I would post some pics of Boomer “working his buns and thighs” In the course of one day, Boomer Ran/Jogged 5 miles (2 miles this morning, 3 miles during this jogging “session” pictured). Today I was told that the American Bullies are the “Pit Bulls” of this decade, Let’s see an American Bully jog/run 3 miles straight and still be breathing! Oops, my REAL Pit Bull is showing! (Sorry a little upset, bumped in to an American Bully breeder today in town!.... Just Lovely! But Dont worry everyone, I just shook my head and walked away!) Anyways…Enjoy! He's thinking "Get that camera outta my face, IM CONCENTRATING WOMAN!!!" BTW the tread mill is in my basement so that why it looks kinda spooky in the background!

Good for Boomer keeping fit. Rocky at 4 has become a Lazy ASS spending most of his day on the couch. I don't have a treadmill. But if I did, Rocky would probably get more use out of it than I

Still working on Kanga to use the tread mill for more thann 5 minutes....Did you just rig leashes to keep his collar hooked up? Very nice Yea I just tied two leashes to the side panels to keep him centered and going. My advice for teaching your dog to use the tread mill is taking your sweet time. I would have Boomer just stand on the tread mill (While it was off) and reward him like crazy and give him treats. Then I would have him in the room whenever I used the tread mill so he would get used to the sound. After that, I turned my treadmill on to the lowest level which is like .5 MPH while Boomer was on it; and rewarded like crazy (Chicken was a GREAT motivator for Boomer). The first time I turned the treadmill on while Boomer was on it, he freaked. I tried every day and eventually the chicken was more important than the earth moving under his feet. I ALWAYS stand right in front of the tread mill just in case something would go wrong and to encourage him. I will post a pic of how I have the leashes tied. I will be running him soon so I will take one then!

This is similar to what I did for both the electric treadmill AND Ella's doggy treadmill. I treated her like MAD anytime she got anywhere near the treadmill. I had my trainer come over to help me teach her to use the e-mill, but it took a LOT of work. I think the fact that the e-mill ran on its own, freaked her out badly. So it was SLOOOOW getting her to use it. I have to stand over her, with my feet on the ledges of the treadmill, and I leash her and hold her ball in front of her. It drives her crazy. I cannot do this anymore because everytime she'd walk on it, she'd bark for her ball, and she'd throw that hard pit bull head up and smack me right in my bladder/urethra area. It eventually caused me to have urethra issues, sending me to the doctor, then to a urologist with UTI symptoms, but with no actual UTI. I had an ultrasound done on my uterus (after having a pap done), then I had a ct scan of my kidneys. I also had a cytoscope put in me at the urologist's office. All of this to determine that...basically she was bruising me everytime she threw her head back when she barked on the treadmill. It took me...3-4 months to heal. And since I've stopped walking her on the treadmill, I am fine. It's funny because when she'd do this, I didn't even notice she was hitting me there. I didn't even realize the damage it was doing. But she bruised me internally which caused my urethra to swell, which caused me to display symptoms of a UTI. Anyway! hahahaha, that's more info than I am sure you all wanted to read! But Ella LOVES her doggy mill. She'd run on that thing FOREVER if I let her. But I do not chain her in because she runs SO FAST on it that she cannot pace herself correctly, and she wants to run ahead of it. Which causes a risk for her feet to get stuck between the belt and the front of the mill (if you can picture what I'm talking about). So, I sit next to the mill, and I hold her by her collar or harness where I have control over her, and I let her run. Anyway, Good JOB BOOMER!!! I LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE his coloring! He sure is a handsome guy! Still working on Kanga to use the tread mill for more thann 5 minutes....Did you just rig leashes to keep his collar hooked up? Chewbecca, where did you get Ella's Treadmill?
I have wanted to get Boomer a treadmill that is made for dogs and I searched online but the cheapest I could find was $3,900!!! I think that's an awful lot!

We got Ella's doggy mill from Grand Carpet mill www.grandcarpetmill.com/It's not an e-mill, though. When I was using the e-mill with Ella, I was putting her on my personal treadmill. It's a manual treadmill. ;D We got the grand deluxe. It wasn't cheap, but it surely was NOT $3,900, and it works wonderfully! ;D AND it was VERY easy to put together! ;D

Definetly going to look into those! Thanks! Oooh, it costs $375. I think we paid a little more than that because we got the harness that goes with it, which if I did it over again, I would NOT get the harness. Not because it's bad, it's not, we just do not use it because we put her in her cdpits walking harness. It fits her better (because it's custom made), and the other one is too big on her. ;D If you do not have a cdpits harness yet, I recommend getting one. I LOVE Ella's. I use it as back up on walks, and Cindy put an extra D-Ring on it for me. There is a bit of a wait on them, but to me, it's worth the wait. ;D

I do need to get Boomer a harness. He has one but it’s getting tight on him. Chewbecca, How often do you have to replace the belt on your treadmill? I think Boomer would REALLY like a manual treadmill. I’m on the Cdpits website right now….I DEFINETLY love there harnesses! I see a doggy treadmill and a harness in Boomers near future! Here are some pictures of how I have Boomer tied to the treadmill. As I mentioned before, I stay right in front of the treadmill when he is on it. If something would happen, all I have to do is pull a string and the tread mill stops instantly.

I'm unsure of how often it needs to be replaced. We've had ours for over a year, and I have not replaced it yet. ;D We used a special type of silicone stuff on it, though, that prolongs the life of the belt.
;D
