I'm posting this here because Gale is coping with this very sad loss... sweet Fay has passed away. From our blog:
It is with great sadness that we bring you news of Fay's passing. In the short time since Fay's rescue in July, she touched thousands of hearts with her zest for life and desire to be everyone's friend. Although Fay was tortured at the hands of humans for the first five years of her life, she overcame those hardships. Fay has been loved and well-cared for these past few months, and all involved in her rescue and care were dedicated to ensuring that neither Fay nor any of the other dogs rescued with her would ever be subjected to the torture of dog fighting again. Her last three months were spent in a loving foster home where she got plenty to eat, a warm and safe place to sleep, and plenty of love. She was very happy in that transitional home, but perhaps she was happiest when she was out meeting people at events. Her tail was almost a non-stop blur. On December 28, she successfully came through her third operation to give back the lips that men had taken away. Sadly, Fay passed away through no fault of anyone who tried to save her, but her past life had the final say due to the horrible scarring she suffered from years of fighting and abuse. We need to stop dog fighting and stop the pain and suffering of these innocent victims. Please join us in remembering the beauty of Fay. Thank you for all of the love and support that has been so generously given to this special girl. Mutts-n-Stuff will continue work on building the Phoenix House in honor of Fay and thousands of victims like her, so dogs rescued from fight busts can finally know safety, comfort, and love. We appreciate your understanding as Mutts-n-Stuff volunteers struggle with the loss of our sweet angel.
Thank you,
Gale

I'm so sorry to hear this! Just think of it this way (if you are a Christian), God loved her so much that he wanted to see her again.
You will see Fay, and all your other loved dogs again. A favorite saying of mine is, "Heaven is where all the dogs you ever loved come to greet you".
She is at peace, where no one can hurt her ever again.

My boyfriend and I are sending her thoughts. Fay was Tim's "third favorite pit bull" after our two.

So sorry for your loss. I just saw it on Facebook today and cried for hours. I've been following her story since she was rescued and was so touched by her love and forgiveness towards humans when she was hurt badly by them for so long. RIP Fay. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

Gale, I know I've been slow to respond but I have a chance right now to get on here and tell you how wonderful I think you are and how blessed Fay was to have spent her last days with you and Dave and others who loved her. I feel so honored to have had the chance to meet her and share in her experience and receive first hand those most wonderful sweet and gentle kisses that only Fay could offer. She is a dog that will live on in the hearts and minds of many for YEARS to come. Like Leo and the rest of the Vick dogs, I feel that Fay played a vital role in bringing us one giant leap closer to giving all bust dogs a chance at life and hope. Thank you from the deepest part of my heart for embracing us (New Hope) and for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of Fay's life and something so wonderful - such pure and genuine love.
Although she is gone from this earth now... she will NEVER be forgotten. RIP sweet Fay and play hard with all who have gone before you, and greet those who follow you with your big toothy grin. We will see you again someday when the angels come to take us home.
Gale, Mutts, WE LOVE YOU!! {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}

I haven't been online much at all, so didn't have a chance to respond to this thread when the news broke, but I found out last week about Fay's passing. Reading this thread I am crying all over again.
I just know Fay is an angel and has such a strong purpose, which will be carried out in the months and years to follow. She has suffered enough and will never ever have to suffer again.
In my line of work I come across so many special dogs - they are all special - both in real life, and over the internet (dogs I will never meet but get to 'know' through their stories). Fay is one of the most amazing, special dogs I have ever come to 'know'. I knew it the first time I laid eyes on her, and the fact that she has from a distance touched SO MANY, just affirms this belief in my mind. I can't explain it, but there is something beyond words about this dog, and she will transcend, move, touch, heal, even beyond death.
Gale and the Mutts crew, you are so loved and so valued and we over at RPB are just so grateful for your work.
We are mourning your loss; please know that you are not carrying this pain alone.

so sorry, Gale, and so sorry you've had to endure the idiocy of cruel morons with axes to grind. Fay was blessed to spend her last months with you.
