I guess my question would be, have you had experience or are you familiar with the Cane Corso breed?
They are almost opposite to the APBT breed. They are a pushy breed who is uncomfortable with strangers. They are not a social butterfly. There is a fine line between aggressive and aloof. A Cane Corso is aloof. They rather have strangers ignore them then acknowledge them.
I’m just afraid she would fail the test simply because she is a Cane Corso not an APBT. She is more than likely going to be less acceptable to strangers than an APBT will be. Please Correct me if I’m wrong here...I’m not familiar with these tests or exactly how the dog is "graded" or if she would be compared to an APBT.
If she would not be compared to an APBT and her breed would be taken into consideration then I would be honored to have her evaluated!!!

I have had experience both with temp testing them and from seeing them in practice (vet tech). Many of the evaluations I do for BBR include a dog that is mixed with Guarding or aloof dog breeds, such as AmBullDog, or Rott, for example. The temperament test is not pass/fail. Instead, it is a set of tests that I write my observations of the dogs behavior. Although not being as social is acceptable for many other breeds of dogs, there are some parts of the test that the dog should NOT "fail" regardless of their breed. For example, it is not acceptable to bite or growl during the Food aggression or resource guarding test. Not is it acceptable to bite me after I "accidentally" pinch their toe. The temp test isn't designed to tell me which dogs will bite (although it can tell me that), it is more designed to tell me what issues the dog will likely have when rehomed. Think of it as a fact finding mission (where I might learn some things that would make you uncomfortable with Avery being around the dog- if she redirects or attacks something that startles her, for example), so you have a better picture of what issues the dog might have. Is she really pushy/dominant towards humans or is she easy going? Again, it is just a suggestion, and you don't have to take me up on the offer. But since this really is such a bad area of town, I'd be super careful about what type of dog came from that environment. Mostly, in that area, we see abuse, fighting and outdoor dogs that often are poorly socialized, with extensive behavioral issues. It is such a bad area of town that we have never adopted a dog to that area, nor do I ever see us doing so. I video tape all my evals, so I could supply you with the video links so you could check out the eval yourself, and I can presend youa blank eval form so you se what I'm looking for/testing.

Ok! I just didnt know if her temp. would be compared to that of an APBT (Which wouldnt really be comparable)! Well I know Keith is not abusing her or anything like that, I have spoke with the vet she is seen by. It sounds like Keith brings her to the vet frequently because he always thinks something is wrong when nothing is! I know she is an indoor dog (Talked to neighbors and vet said he know this is true) and he seems like a wealthy smart "Normal" man. He just is gone too much (He is a Lawyer and a business owner). With your experience I would LOVE you to evaluate her! I am also grateful you are willing to provide your concerns!!! There is only so much I can do from here in Iowa!!! I don’t want this dog to get here then “Sh*t, this dog is unbelievably aggressive and is trying to eat me through the crate!” I would love to set up a time for you to evaluate her! That would make Gustavo and I feel better about this long distance thing!!! If you would like me to PM you so I can give you Keiths phone number and/or my number just let me know! Thanks again Garland!!!

Garland I think that is a wonderful idea! I saw this post and kind of got nervous. With a young child and another dog, this breed can be tough.... Especially with all the stress of a new situation, new people, new environment etc. Without you meeting the dog first, or having someone you trust evaluate her I would just be very careful.... I have had something horrible happen with a friend in a similar situation... Just looking out for you and your family! She is cute BTW!

Thanks Sonya! Im very grateful for Garland being willing to evaluate her! It makes me feel better. I assure everyone, I would NOT get into this if I hadn’t done my homework. Gustavo and I took interest in this breed sometime ago and when we decided we would like to add another dog to our family, the research began. I am apart of 2 Cane Corso forums, I have spoke with many breeders (Both good and bad), I have spoke with 2 Cane Corso show judges, and I have spoke with a few owners. I have read many articles about this breed. I have established whats good & whats bad about this breed. Im not a person to get into something I can not handle.

Garland has had some things come up but I believe she is still going to evaluate Halle. Its just taking time, which is fine. Garland also said she may have ideas for transportation so hopefully everything will fall into place.
Keith & I talk a lot and he said that he is willing to keep her how ever long needed because he also feels that I will be the perfect home so there is no rush!! But I am SO excited and anxious to get this girl!!! ;D

So Halle had her temperament test today and ....She did fine! There were no serious red flags. I will post the actual results from her test when I get them But I now know what things I will need to work on (Mouthing, Jumping, and Fear of new people). I will let Garland go into more detail about the test if she wants to but it seems that we are definitely getting this girl! ;D I am SO excited and CAN NOT WAIT to meet this girl. I have my work cut out for me with Halle (It will be like bringing a pup into the home) but I am ready!
