I just wanted to say 'hi' to everyone here. I am a trainer and over the past few months have been researching, and falling in love with, pit bulls. Just as I started to look into adopting one I was discouraged to find out that there is proposed BSL currently in the works in my town. I have put the adoption idea on hold for this and several other reasons and decided to see what I can do about fighting this proposed legislation. If anyone has any tips or contacts please feel free to post them to me. I live in Amherst, Ma. I am also going to try to hook up with local pit rescue groups as well like brave heart rescue and pittie love rescue. If you know of additional rescue groups in Western Ma please let me know! Thanks for any help you can give!

I've gotten in touch with Mass. Fed. and have happily learned that there isn't any proposed BSL in the Ma legislature =) . It sounds like the person I talked to in animal control was seriously misinformed.

Hey!! Well, I have a few suggestions....first, I haven't read this yet, but there is a new book about fighting BSL - How to Stop Breed Bans, at www.stopbreedbans.com Maybe that will be useful for you. I think it is a good idea to rally interested/concerned parties in your area and attend town meetings. The most important thing is to make the legislators know you are agains this law and that you absolutely will NOT stand for it. Arm yourself with FACTs - these laws are based on faulty research and skewed stats. Go to www.nationalcanineresearchcouncil.com for some helpful numbers. Consider starting a town petition, so you have some names and numbers of people opposed to the law that you can present at meetings. A STRONG, unified voice is the most important thing. Complacency kills! Kudos for you for wanting to defeat this. We need more people like you out there fighting for these dogs!!!
