New to forum; new to pits. Petunia is a rescue, 1-2yrs old, fixed and sweet as can be but the poor girl never smells that good and often times stinks. She mostly stays indoors. I brush her teeth, clean ears. She does get bad breath worse than my other dog. No dandruff or known skin problems. She's white, does shed but guess not overly so. She eats California Natural Chicken & Rice. Tried Hartz whitening shampoo. She may smell alright right after bath but it doesn't last long. Is this a pit thing? She's my first short-haired dog. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Bad odor is usually related to some sort of internal issue - diet could help. Many people who switch to a raw food/BARF diet claim the doggy odor almost completely goes away. If you do Google "Barf" you should come up with lots of hits.

I'll look into that, Mary, thanks. I didn't mention though, that when you put a nose to her, the odor is around her head and neck. Could this still be diet?

V. - I'm going to Petsmart tomorrow to get some. Thanks for the recommendation. She's so sweet and wants so much lovin' - I hate for her to be anything less than "appealing".

V. - Thanks so, so much for recommending that supplement. It worked almost immediately!! Just couldn't believe it. Petunia now smells like a flower ;D.
