I love these! I think I might have to get myself a tote bag and a "I kissed a pit bull" tee!

OMG the logo dog is Rocky's bro. I have to see how long for shipping. If I could have one of those before my program on Friday I will have to decide between my new TDI polo and That. Hmmmmm... Unbreakable spirit and loyal wins! I want both those. I love the cut of them all.

what does the date of 1870 represent??? Could that be the year the first APBT was registered with the UKC? I actually think the date for that is 1898, though. So I don't really know.

I like those shirts too! I wonder if the money goes to benefit a rescue/shelter?

Maybe they got it from here. This is from Wikipedia Later, it assumed the name in England of Staffordshire Bull Terrier. These dogs began to find their way into America as early as 1870 where they became known as Pit Dog, Pit Bull Terrier, later American Bull Terrier, and still later as Yankee Terrier.[1] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Staffordshire_Terrier

Dog Jack of Civil War fame, for example. I have a clipping from an 18th century newspaper that is about dogfights...

Yeah, that date seems kinda random to me, or maybe they pulled from the source CA mentioned. I don't think we have an exact date the first bull-n-terrier forebears of the APBT were bred. And yes, UKC was formed in 1898 to register the APBT, so that would have been a more "official" date to use.
