Hello everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name's Shelly. I live in Manteca, CA with my husband Scott, 7 yr. old daughter Nicole, and a wonderful 16 mo. old pit-boxer mix named Ellie Mae. I'll post pics of her with my daughter after I post this message.
Ellie came to us from one of my co-workers who was going to turn Ellie in to the pound just because her (my co-worker's) teen-aged son no longer wanted to care for Ellie. My husband and I absolutely hate pounds so we agreed to take her for a few weeks until our local no-kill shelter would have room for her to be adopted out. Instead, we ended up falling head over heals for her and she's been with us for about 6 mos. now.
She's such a goofball and I don't think there's been a day gone by that she hasn't done something just totally off the wall to make us laugh! She was extremely helpful through the loss of our Golden Retriever back in January and has adapted perfectly to being an only dog in the house. Her behavior is actually better now than when Murphy was still here. Ellie's been a perfect playmate for our daughter, very patient and gentle. She has boundless amounts of energy and loves to play fetch. We honestly couldn't imagine our lives without her!
I wanted to join this site because, although I've been a dog owner since I was old enough to hold the other end of a leash, I've never owned a bully breed. I've been doing all kinds of research and reading on bully breeds, but it's always nice to be able to talk to other bully owners for advice.
Well, that's our story! I look forward to swapping tales with everyone!
