animals.change.org/blog/view/the_bump_blasts_pit_bulls_parenting_site_spreads_breed_discriminationThe Bump bills itself as a site aimed at giving "first-time parents the lowdown on fertility, pregnancy, birth, and babies with stage-by-stage advice, stylish ideas, local resources, and interactive tools." In a monthly informational email sent to subscribers, the company sent an email to mothers of seventeen-month-olds, which included the following text: "By now your toddler has tons of new tricks, like opening every cabinet door in the house, chucking his toys across the room, stripping off his diaper, and shrieking like a banshee. You might also find that he is either terrified of dogs and strangers or shows absolutely no fear at all. Either way is fine, as long as you offer support and supervision — and steer clear of pit bulls." I've already signed but I would encourage anyone who has a second to do so as well. Thank you.

Why would anyone trust parenting advice from people who obviously don't believe in research and fact based information? "And don't let the cat near your baby because it might steal her soul!"

They responded in the comments:
Kaitlin Stanford Hi guys, this is Kaitlin from TheBump.com. Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention - it was absolutely never our intention to malign pit bulls or perpetuate stereotypes about the breed. We're removing this from the email ASAP and we'll be much more aware of making this kind of error in the future.

I am very glad that they removed it but come on it was not your intention to malign or stereotype pit bulls?! What exactly was your intention then?! Give me a break! They prob. thought that none of their readers would be the "type" to own pit bulls.
