I got Boomer neutered April 20 and he weighed 50 pounds and he was 8 months old. Ever since he has been loosing weight, when he got neutered my vet said he was right where he should be and yesturday he had a vet appointment and he weighs 45 pounds and the vet said he is a little skinny. He eats the same amount of food and he doesnt get any more exercise than he used to. Also, I know he doesnt have worms, he has been dewormed. Ive heard of weight gain but now weight loss. Any thoughts?

is he pooping ok? he could also be in that lanky legs-to-long-looking-like-a-deer stage too which will re proportion his weight and make him look skinny.... you could up his feed if he is ok healthy wise.

Yea his poop is no different than before! What age do they go through that? Maybe that is what it is.

Maybe he is just a late bloomer! He is JUST 10 months and I weighed him today and he hasnt lost any weight but he hasnt gained any either, I used to feed him 3 cups of Canidae 2 times a day but now Im gonna feed him 4 cups two times a day and see how that goes!!! Thanks maryellen!

OK, I went to the vet early this morning because Boomer started vomiting and he didnt do that last night. The vet said he had a Urinary tract infection, he said that is probably why Boomer has been loosing the weight so fast!!! And it has nothing to do with the neutering! So we got some medicine (Boomer hates it) and should be good to go!

Poor Boomer!!! I'm glad you took him. Anything that seems 'off' or unusual about your dog should require a vet visit automatically. Especially for things like sudden weight loss or loss of appetite.
