(Marley is not a Pit Bull...He is our honorary Pit Bull and I wanted this thread to get seen so I put it here)
Today we lost our dear Marley boy.
Ever since Marley showed up in my life he has had trouble keeping weight on him, he would pee a little in his sleep, and he drank a lot of water. Well turns out (We found out today) that his kidneys were defected (?) From birth.
The last couple days Marley has gone downhill SO fast. He was throwing up and had diarrhea the last two nights (Which caused him to lose a lot of weight) then today he lost his eye sight and become very clumsy due to nerve damage. We’ve been in and outta the vet office and today was the day that my vet said that there would be nothing that we could do for him. Marley would get stuck in our kitchen chairs, put his head in a corner and not understand how to turn around and go the other way, get stuck behind the couch, and run into everything. He was crying because of no longer being able to see.
So today my Bob Marley dog crossed the rainbow bridge. My time with him was very short but he was truly one amazing little dog. He has left his mark in my heart forever. Thank you all for loving Marley and accepting him as one of the ‘pibbles’ on this forum. I know he would have been proud.
The Bob Marley look when he came into my life:
And after he got all spiffy:
And a video of the goofy little dog:

oh no i am so sorry !! Marley was truly special, and you are truly special to take him home and give him the life he never had.. Run free at the bridge Marley .
Feel good knowing you gave that pretty boy an amazing last few months. I am so very sad about your loss. Marley was most definitely an honorary pibble. *HUGS*

I feel like I knew Marley and I can't believe he's gone. I am so sorry for your loss. Marley truly was an honorary Pit Bull and an amazing one at that. I am thinking of you and your family in this difficult time.

Rest in Peace Captain Tom Jacobs, beloved husband, father, and grandfather. See you later, Alligator.
Benny, you taught me so much in your life and death. Rest well, Sweet boy.
I second what Christina said, I honestly did feel like I knew him personally (and when talking about him would always say "I know this sweet little cocker spaniel..." even though I never met him.)
I am so deeply sorry for your loss but during this time of grief please remember that he was the luckiest little boy to have found you and you gave him the best life he probably ever had. I know you loved him deeply and he is now with Boomer running free, healthy and happy at the bridge. Big hugs to you, your family and Honey.
Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. I never thought Id have to say good-bye to him so soon.
Marley truely was a blessing to me and my family. I feel like there is a big hole in my house right now...Dont have a cold nose bumping the back of my legs every time I get up. There are just little things that I am so badly missing. Definitely not easy.
Avery keeps asking me "Wheres Marley at?" Very hard thing to explain to a 2 year old. Ive just been telling her that Marley got sick and went to Heaven. She seems very down today too.
Honey is also definitely grieving. Hasn’t eaten since yesterday afternoon (Which is a big deal, she is a piglet), she keeps looking around the house & keeps peeking in Marley’s crate, I picked up Marley’s collar and the tags jingled and Honey came running with her ears perked up.
Today Honey, Avery, and I are just trying to keep our minds busy. We are going to go to Petco in a little bit then go out for Ice Cream (yes, Honey will get a scoop ) then go for a little drive.

I'm so sorry to hear about Marley. He was a little firecracker, that's for sure. Thankfully he crossed the bridge before you had to move. His last days were not spent being stressed and confused. He had a great end to his life thanks to you. Be happy that you helped the poor guy in his time of need.
Run free, Marley!! Jam out to some reggae up there!
I'm tearing up at the thought of Avery and Honey not understanding why Marley is gone. I am so sad for them. It's always harder for those left behind when a loved one (furry or not) passes.

Oh no... Amy Jo, I am so sorry that you have lost Marley. His time with you may have been short, but it was wonderful. He was so lucky to have wandered into your life. You gave him the happy ending that he deserved. BIG hugs to your family.
Love me, love my dog... a PIT BULL is a girl's best friend!

So sorry for your loss Amy Jo. I remember when you found Marley and how lucky I remember thinking he was that he showed up at your house. As cliche as it sounds I think that when you rescued him he rescued you as well...sure Boomer had something to do with that as well! Godspeed Marley.

Michele I agree with you 100%. There was just something about Marley that gave me comfort about my Boomer.
Marley did rescue me....I was so down in the dumps and was having such a rough time then here came this little dog that was grateful for every little thing and whose tail (And whole body) NEVER stopped wagging. He gave me a new perspective. And as crazy as it sounds it seems like that day I turned around and seen that matted up dog standing behind me...when I looked into his eyes, we connected...We knew right there we both needed each other. And even though I had him for such a short time, Ive NEVER had a dog love me and be so grateful for me as he was.
Another thing that is going to make me sound CRAZY...I swear he is still here with me. Today I got outta bed and I swear it felt like something cold hit the back of my leg (Something he always did...Would walk so close behind me that hed bump me with his cold nose), when I turned I half expected to see Marley looking up at me wagging his tail. Just seems like he is still here sometimes.
Thats not crazy, he probably is still hanging around until you are a little more healed. Dogs give us so very much in their short lives that I doubt the second their physical body dies that their little doggie spirits depart. I always felt like they hang around until you are a little better (why would he leave you in your greatest time of need and grief?). I have felt my dogs after they have passed, and I know for me at least that feeling them still around helped me.

It's so hard watching young children and other pets try to understand. I hope you guys had some happy times yesterday. I know Marley is having them right now! God bless!
Wow, Amy Jo, I am SO SORRY to hear about Marley. Michele told me about this thread last night. I hadn't seen it - I was in shock and upset! Like Christina, I felt like I knew Marley. He is a special soul. I feel very bad for Avery and Honey, who cannot really understand or even articulate what they must be feeling inside. Hugs to you all!
