We found Brandy as a stray in Fall 2009. She was in really rough shape - very skinny, obviously just had puppies, vaginal prolapse with bleeding. We got her some much needed vet care and brought her into the rescue program. She bounced back and was adopted very quickly, and everything was great until this last summer. Her adopter had fallen on really hard times - illness, lost his job and then his home - and contacted us to ask if we would be able to take her back. Our adoption contracts state that if the adopter can no longer care for the dog, the dog must be given back to the rescue. The adopter had taken really good care of her and was heartbroken to let her go. At the time, we didn't have any foster homes open. So she stayed with us. We did crate and rotate for a while because we didn't know how long she would be staying and I didn't want to disrupt our pack. But after a few weeks we did introductions and she did great. That was in September.
Long story short, it's looking like Brandy is going to be a foster failure. The last thing we were looking for was another dog to add to our pack, but she fits in so well. Even Dharma, who can be a bit iffy with other females, gets along really well with her. So now we have Barley, Otis, Dharma, and Brandy... and then there's DA Lebowski on crate/rotate. Brandy is the sweetest softest thing ever. She is so easy going and has an amazing temperament. We have had a couple people interested in adopting her, but I don't know if I can let her go now. My mind tells me it would be best because it would open up an emergency foster spot in our house. But my heart tells me to never let the little snuggle bunny go!
Anyway, here is beautiful brindle Brandy in her new Collar Mania pink and silver deluxe loop martingale! (A new Collar Mania collar is a sure sign that a dog has officially become part of our household! )
And here she is in her pretty pink raincoat!
