It's nice to read about happy endings. Love the picture of the firefighter and one of the dogs... a very cute brindle. Firefighter breathes life into stricken dogs Staff Report April 15, 2011 www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chibrknews-firefighter-breathes-life-into-stricken-dogs-20110415,0,2832017.story
Two dogs were literally on their last legs this evening after a fire in their owner's Bucktown apartment, until Chicago Firefighter Tammy Rodriguez stepped in.
Fire officials said that Rodriguez, a 19-year department veteran, administered aid that likely saved both dogs.
Firefighters found the adult dog and puppy in the rear porch of the building in the 1800 block of North Honore Avenue sometime before 7 p.m., fire officials said.
One pitbull was critically injured and the other was in cardiac arrest. That's when Rodriguez, who is a trained emergency medical technician, performed CPR on both dogs and administered oxygen, apparently saving their lives.
No other injuries were reported.
