Weellll, depending on the neighborhood you live in...I'd have the Jump the fence one for a particular in law...certainly make a burgler think more than a simple Beware of Dog sign...

Don't really like them. But if it keeps some idiot off your property, because if one of the breeds that they want to ban does harm to the idiot who walked into your yard you know the dog is going to get blamed.

Some States have laws where Beware of Dog signs are an admission that your dog is dangerous. Then if there is an incident with your dog they can point to the sign and say that even you think the dog is dangerous.

However, if you have a secure enclosed yard and someone tries to break in...I hope a judge wouldn't be that stupid..."Your Honor, yes I did climb over the fence and break open the window and climb in the basement, but then that dog ran over and..." If the dog has a clean record and there's a just cause it's not always Pookins fault.

Of course it isn't logically "Pookins" fault, but logic isn't always the case when it comes to the Law and Pit Bulls.

I have an acquaintance who has just about all those signs for his Rottie... I personally think they're a bad idea (like the Beware of Dog signs) but on the flip side as a single person living alone, it would be nice to have a sign that makes people at least second-guess whether jumping my fence is worth their while.

When I had my rottie I let her out into the yard one day. I didn't have any signs on my fence. I would get rabbits and chipmunks in the yard. Well I hear her barking and carrying on and she wasn't stopping. So I go out and she is all the way on the other side of the house and I'm calling her and she just keeps on barking. So I go around the other side and there is this guy up on top of a ladder in my yard. He was cutting my neighbors trees and needed to cut the sides up against my fence. I didn't know he was coming into my yard, and I guess he thought it was ok. But when I let Lexi out she chased him up the ladder. Never bit him, but boy was he scared. I actually had a good laugh at his expense. I think he needed to change his underwear...

Another thought, maybe not with these signs but doesn't it make sense to have some kind of sign just to inform people sometimes? Yeah it might be somebody trimming their trees that never had to lean near your fence before or a meter reader or some such. Something direct so they know beforehand.

I think they are stupid as well. To me it just plays into the whole stereotypical hype about certain dogs. If someone wants a sign saying there is a dog on the premises fine, but you don't have to make your dog sound like a bad a**. Just my opinion.

Yeah, we have "dog on premises" signs by our front door and on the fence. I also think that having something that claims you have a vicious dog is just asking to be sued and for the dog to be impounded/PTS if something ever did happen.

I would take the "I have issues" one only if it had a picture of a dog on a therapist couch holding a tissue.

Hehe, that would be funny. A lot less bad ass and intimidating, though...

I had a "I can make it to the gate in 3 seconds...." sign on my old yard.
Maybe I'm hypocritically, but I kinda like "guard dog" signs that have a little ooomph to them. Legalities keep me from posting any (not that I have a yard right now anyway.....)
