f-kin A right, Old Yeller. Next, I Am Legend. Now, that was a loyal dog. Sorry, I don't feel sad for human tragedy movies. I hate people.

I know the whole movie wasn't sad, but for a kid's movie "Up" had some really cry-inducing moments!

You know one I remember? Seeing The Pokemon Movie with my kids when it came out. There's a scene where Pikachu is leaving Ash to go to the Pikachu Island and there's this sad music and big anime teardrops n we were all just blubbering...

Yes animal related movies have always upset me more than people related ones and since we are on the topic anyone ever see Sounder? I never saw the film, but I read the book. Soooooo sad. I think that absolute saddest book that I read in grade school was Where the Red Fern Grows. I stay away from any and all books, movies, tv shows, etc that may possibly involve anything sad about an animal. I live this stuff, I don't need it in my entertainment.

Here's another dog tearjerker. The Biscuit Eater. www.imdb.com/title/tt0032254/I first read the story in my favorite anthology "The Fireside Book of Dog Stories."

I read Sounder back in school.. can't remember it much anymore!
I may be weird but the Lord of The Rings series makes me sad. I can't really watch sad animal movies.

I kinda know what you mean about the LOTR movies, Melonie, they make me a little teary but I'm waaaaay into them, very emotionally attached ;D
For the most part, I avoid sad movies, really don't need anything else in my life making me cry. I tend to cry at weird random stuff that for whatever reason gets me based on what may be happening in my life at the time.

Movie make me cry, but not very many (I'm sorry, I couldn't cry at Titanic, all I kept thinking was "Bitch, move your ass or take turns or something!")
Book that makes me cry every freaking time (and I've read in tons so you think I would have gotten use to it by now): Flowers for Algernon. Even if you just read the original short story...crybaby city.

Dave, I have that book, Fireside Book of Dog Stories. OMG ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Favorite story... The Odyssey of Runyan Jones. No, wait... Rex. Wait... The Dog That Bit People. No... ;D This book is very special to me. I had an aunt and uncle in NYC, lived a half block off Canal in Chinatown. We used to visit once every couple months, and my Uncle Gus gave me the book to read one time I was bored. When we left, I took the book with me. He tried to stop me, but my Aunt Honey convinced him "let the boy have the book. You won't miss it." That was a long time ago, they're both gone. I love that book. It's falling apart, partly because I've read it so much, and partly becuase it was printed during WW2 and paper and bookbinding was not a priority. The quality is poor. My LOTR discs are starting to degrade I've watched them so many times. But I laugh more than anything else. The books, well, that's a different story. Talk about immersion. Y'know, I'm starting to think you and I knew each other in another life. Did you live in Scotland in the 12th century?

My mom gave me the Fireside book. It's sitting in my bookcase, haven't touched it in ages. Ya know what, I think I will dust it off tonight and take it to bed with me.
As far as I know, I was never in Scotland in a past life. New Orleans, yeah. Possibly Egypt, yeah. ;D
Oh oh! And speaking of LOTR.....um, The Hobbit?! CANNOT WAIT.

Should be good, I'm thinking the CGI will be even better (if that's possible.) I probably won't see it until the dvd release.
