Didn't know what to call this thread. Not really a gratitude list but more an "Instant Happy" list. Personal things that never cease to amaze, inspire and/or mellow you when things are rough or enhance things when you're doing well. The storm and resulting problems affected alot of us, need some inspiration this week... Seeing that sun streaming through the trees at the reservation early morning and just for a moment understanding the natural order of things and me n' Pookins being a small yet complete part of it. My Emmy telling me I'm the best Mommy ever and knowing right at that moment I am. Ophie looking with those deep doggie eyes and a smile she has only for me and knowing I'm the best dog Mommy too. The complete peace of a pumpkin latte and a few hours at the library or bookstore all by myself A boiling hot bubble bath and a good magazine that doesn't fall in the tub...and Dr. Teals Bath Salts mmmm they can smell it on the next block... incredible The opening bars to "Gimme Shelter" or "Tumbling Dice", takes me back to a time when I knew all the answers... A perfect peanut butter cup milkshake...even with dog and cats perched on the table and chairs around me waiting for a taste. Just for a minute it's ALL MINE

WONDERFUL post!!! I love this and needed this today so much.
Ok, here's my short list:
1) A pumpkin or vanilla soy latte.
2) A fall day, with a bright blue sky, crisp air, and the peace and serenity of nature with a dog at my side.
3) The beach, laying on a blanket with my ear to the ground, almost drifting off to sleep but not quite, with the scrunching sound of sand as people stroll by, the gulls cackling and the ocean waves crashing in the distance.
4) Luca when his eyes light up and he does his little pony prance as we play on the front lawn.
5) A really good novel that takes me away from everything, yet brings me deeper into myself.
6) A soft, warm bed after a long, productive day.
7) A great movie.
8) Laughing really hard until it hurts.
9) All the residents of For the Animals Sanctuary, especially the cows.

1. Sitting in my recliner, the "Mommy Chair". with whatever dogs decide to plop down on me. Usually Mav and Cappy or Snorts and Phyllis. It's buy one, get one free with them. 2. This time of day right now. Having my morning coffee, with sleeping dogs, trolling all the celebrity gossip sites 3. Going to dodgeball and to the bar afterwards with the team. It's just so much darn fun! 4. Sitting outside with feed/treats and having all the poultry come up and eat from my hand. 5. Looking through all the dog/goat/llama/whatever pictures on my computer that I've compiled over the years. I could go on for days! Great thread idea!

OMG forgot one of the biggest, Shooting pistols at the range. Something I had no interest in until my step dad passed and left a collection. When there I think of nothing else but what I am doing. So focused. Turns out I'm a natural. I was asked to join the combat league. Thinking about it. Its all men not a single woman. But that's my life.

That's neat, CA! I would do it! When I used to volunteer at the bird sanctuary in Connecticut, my boss was a hunter. He let me shoot his guns once. I shot a shotgun into the air to scare away starlings (which ended up being a prank he was trying to play on me because he killed one earlier and left it in the yard so I would think I killed it, but the dog got to it first so joke's on him!) and I shot a small caliber rifle at some tin cans. I hit the can 8 times out of 10, I was pretty proud of myself. I told my mom about it and turns out she used to do competitive shooting in Finland!
Ok, here's my list: Having visitors in Maine Teaching Saxon a new trick (I just taught him to wave, I'll post a video soon!) Petting a puppy Guessing an obscure dog's breed correctly and having the owner act pleasantly surprised Bowie jumping up into my lap and purring after a hard day Ziggy waking me up in the morning by licking my nose and poking my cheek with her paw Hearing an old song on the radio When someone holds a door open for me when my hands are full Tim doing something sweet for no real reason Saxon's piggy noises Bowie bringing me a bottle cap Ziggy noticing a spot on the wall and going after it (she has the best "hunting" sounds)

Huddled up in bed on a rainy day reading a good book. Watching Beastley enjoy his pumpkin in the yard on a fall day. Fat Boy allowing me to have a decent portion of the bed to myself. Watching the sunset/sunrise with a good cup of coffee. Sitting and enjoying a campfire with good friends. Being greeted by my dogs after a long day at work. Spending time with family and playing with the kids. Joining a pool league with my oldest niece.

The Frito Bandito smell wafting through the air is a comforting odor. The way I start my day.

-Having people over to eat food I made. Such a hostess at heart -The first snow of the season (in a related note, when I first wake up after a big snowstorm and the whole world is covered in pristine and untouched white snow) - The moments where Chubby actually drops his toy to come over and cuddle with me - Watching either The Last Dragon, Rocky Horror Picture Show or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Talking the logistics of zombie apocalypse survival with friends (weird, I know but its so much fun) - That feeling of accomplishment after a really tough workout or crossing the finish line of a really hard mud run - Getting all dressed up for a party - Ginormous and stupidly soft hotel room beds
