Maryellen--Thanks for those links! They are great. Read thru them quickly, going to read thru them slowly today. Very interesting.
CA--Thats very interesting. I never heard of this behavior until Honey started. She peed on me today...Oooo had to take some deep breaths on that one!
Im hoping this is just an annoying *ss stage and her pushing for leadership....Ill get insight tomorrow.
I will keep you all posted! Thank you all so much for your opinions, support, and insight!!

Best of luck, I just wanted to agree with everybody that it is really wonderful to be able to share even embarrassing dog issues on the forum, there's usually several people who've survived the same things. I remember when Ophie was picking off squirrels and neighborhood strays and I was appalled. After sharing I was still mortified but found an appropriate harness to keep her out of trouble. Things you can't talk about with family and stuff since they already know you have a killer doggie anyway

Warning to anyone who hangs out at So Mt. Reservation. That smiling boxhead Gustavo greets everyone that way...such a sweetheart though, everyone laughs it off

Sorry I didn’t post back sooner!! We met up with Will…… Guess it wasn’t what I was hoping for. :/ ….At all. He got to see Honey in full action with her odd behaviors. She growled/snapped at me within the first 15 minutes of meeting him. Turns out that Her lines are split between American and Italian… the American lines she has are not the stable ones (Very fearful) and the Italian is not the best/strongest either. There is no close inbreeding like he was afraid of tho. But….Being around her the amount of time he was He said mentally there is something seriously off with her. He said in just that little time around her she made it very obvious to him, he said “It seems like she’s at war with herself”. He got to see exactly what I meant about her going from one extreme to another in a matter of minutes. He explained to me that he does not believe I have anything to do with her behaviors (Which IMO is a bad thing....Was hoping it was something I was doing and could change) …He said he honestly believes we’ve done everything right and that everything we’ve struggled with Health and Behavior has to do with poor genetics/breeding. (---BTW I didn’t know repeat bladder infections and kidney stones can be poor breeding ??? ) He said that we need to be thinking very seriously about euthanizing or returning her to the breeder. He said it worries him very much me handling her alone (due to her size and behaviors) let alone this dog being around very young children. When Kris is home, he won’t let me handle her and Avery is not allowed around her at all. I know what I have to do….It’s just a matter of convincing myself to be able to do it. As of now....Its a waiting game that I probly shouldnt be playing but Im really struggling. Kris is ready to do it now, before one of us is bit or seriously hurt And as much as I dont want anyone hurt I cant find it in me to actually do something about it. I guess what I got what I wanted---An answer. Now its just a matter of super careful handling until I can actually handle the answer I got. Im still kind of soaking it in....

Sorry to hear the results of the assessment, but it really isn't a big surprise. Take care.
(Oh, and bladder infections and kidney stones per se aren't a matter of genetics, but heightened propensity to having them and/or other diseases of course can be.)

Oh, and I agree with Kris. As rough as this is, it'll be worse if you wait till there's a serious incident.

Amy Jo I am sorry you have to go through all this. You have been through so much for a such young woman. However all is making you strong. I know you will do what is right for you and your family what ever you decide to do.

Again, I am so sorry you have to go through this. Maybe you can have a "Best Day" with Honey, like that article someone posted a little while back.

I haven't posted to this thread yet because I wanted to see how things unfolded with the meeting with Will. I agree that the behaviors she is exhibiting are pretty serious, and this definitely is not a dog to have in a home with children.
Before you do anything, I would talk to the breeder, just to see what they say. There is nothing in your contract that demands you return her as opposed to euth'ing, is there? I have heard of situations where a breeder flipped because a dog they placed was euth'ed.

So sorry to hear this news. Knowing what you have to do, talking about what you have to do is easier that actually coming to terms with it and following through. It's so incredibly sad, and hard. It's time you had some good luck come your way. *hugs*

I totally understand I dont think I could do it either. I dont know what I would do but I probably would have to go away and have someone do it without my knowing when. If not for the children I would probably choose to try to continue life as usual. But it is what it is and it is not good. I cant imagine the anxiety you are going through especially being pregnant. BTW When is the baby due.

I'm so sorry to hear this update. I can't imagine going through all of this with the added stress of a baby on the way. Sending lots of hugs your way!
