Back again to promote use of a front clip harness.
I was reading the Behavior Adjustment Training book functionalrewards.com/ when I noticed the authors favorite harness is the Freedom Harness which I happen to own. I also arranged with an online store to have proceeds of purchase go toward RPB so if you are interested in buying one of these you must buy it from USA Dog Shop usadogshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=536 This link tells you about the donation program. What you have to do is choose the link to the left on bottom of list that says donation programs put it in your cart and choose The Real Pit Bull. If you cant figure it out just put a notation on your order or call the store. The owner of the store actually designed this harness and happens to live in the same town as me. What a coincidence. She is very helpful and really knows how to fit the right size to your dog.
You do not have to buy the leash recommended for training. I own the leash and I never use it because the nylon hurts my hand. But that is my preference. I bought the leash because it was only like 5 dollars. I do however recommend this leash for any front clip harness such as sensation or easy walk usadogshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=536 I would use this leash to attach to both harness front clip and collar for added security. I had previously written a whole review on all the front clip harness I own but somehow the whole thing is gone and I dont feel like doing it again. So ask away. I will say that I do not use the back loop on the Freedom harness while walking. But I have used it to lift Rocky into the car as that martingale when you pull up it lifts their legs off the ground. I have also used it to lift myself off the ground for example at postoffice my mailbox is on bottom row I have trouble getting up from there so I have used the back loop on the harness to lift myself up. I do not consider any of the front clip harness including the freedom to be no pull. I think it was bad choice to call it such. The point is the dog can still pull so you are able to teach loose leash walking without the power of the pull from a just a collar or harness that leash only attaches on the back.
This is all I use now Rocky has a martingale mostly for his id and I do attach leash to the martingale also just in case he freaks out I dont have to worry about him slipping out of harness. Which btw reminds me of reason I dont use the easy walk. It has taken out Rockys front legs on a few occasions where he fell and I think it is because it just does not fit right on him. M/L chest too tight L belly area too big. So that is where the sensation is the best because they will add material as needed for only 5.00 making a perfect fit. The Freedom I like best because of the belly strap is completely wrapped in a velvet material and does not rub on Rocky's naked pink skin belly. As for the other harness I have to add mole skin or fleece etc to protect his skin.
So that's enough blah blah from me. I may be due to make a new harness walking video. Any questions ask away
