I have a wonderful loving 7 yr old pitbull. I know the stigma attached so please be kind. I got her from a friend who was moving almost 2 yrs ago. She was rescued about 5 yrs ago from a puppy mill. She is warm loving obedient. She is a house dog and when she goes outside she is kept on a leash. We did this becuz she likes to roam and got hit by a car about 6 months ago. Anyway, over the last month or so she has become very aggressive towards people - strangers. Prior to this she was always happy and loving towards any visitors. Ofcourse, I am concerned. I have moved her to the backyard where she won't have access to people who pull up in the yard. But still - I will not have a dog that is a danger to anyone. Does anyone have any suggestions or know who can help me - I can't imagine putting her to sleep. I guess I just need help finding a new home.

Welcome to the forum, there are a lot of knowledgable people here that can offer great advice.
Some thoughts... rule out any physical problem that might lead to a change in temperament by making a visit to the vet. Once that is ruled out, you maight want to hire a behaviorist or trainer to evaluate your living situation. Keeping her outside does not help her problem, it can and probably will make it worse.
If it's determined that it's now her nature to be aggressive toward strangers, you cannot pass that problem on to anyone else. You must make the hard decision. God forbid you rehome the dog and it injures someone. I could not live with that guilt, and in fact euthed one of the best dogs I've known because he was, or rather became, unstable and human aggressive.

Welcome to the forum.
Agree with what Dave said. First off you need to rule out any physical problem like thyroid condition, etc. Also the fact that you mentioned she was hit by a car six months ago is even more of a reason to rule out any physical ailments.
Also when you say she has become aggressive what exactly do you mean? Can you explain further. When does this occur and what exactly occurs. Also has she have been aggressive towards you?
If she was originally an indoor dog are you able to cage her when you have company over or put her in a room behind closed doors. Just a bit confused when you say you have moved her to the backyard where she won't have access to people who pull up in the yard.

Ok I too was going to ask how in what way is she being aggressive and any thing to you. Of course also as the above advice is to first check on the physical issues.
Also confinement indoors is a much better solution telling humans they are to ignore the dog not enter the room where the dog is kept preferably in a crate.
