Hello all, my son received a gift (Puppy) from his godfather about a month ago. At that time the pup was 3 months old. The first day he was shy and slept most the time but the next day he was like a hurricane. My son (14) named him Cujo, and has recently started to get really attached to him. He is a Blue Colored Pit mix, as I have no paperwork and have not asked about it, not like it matters much, as he's Family now.

Welcome, what a beautiful pup! I have a blue dog, myself, and he's a laugh a day!
Can I address the collar for a sec? It's not a good idea to leave that type of collar on all the time, as the free ring can catch on things, and at that young age he could easily injure himself trying to get free. A buckle web collar is a better choice.
Post more pics when you get the chance!! We love puppies.

What an adorable little pup!! I have to agree with Dave about the choke chain, though. I would change over to a safer, more comfortable flat collar.

Thanks all again for the great comments and warm welcome. I do appreiciate the comment about the collar as that is how we continue to learn. Can I address the collar for a sec? It's not a good idea to leave that type of collar on all the time, as the free ring can catch on things, and at that young age he could easily injure himself trying to get free. A buckle web collar is a better choice. I haven't had a Dog since i was like 12,( I know Sad) so we as a familly do not/Did not know how to raise a puppy. The first day he was brought to us we went to target and bought him some purina Beniful and some toys we saw. like 2 days latter we got him the choke chain. Well, after reading though several forum (This one being my favorite now) and becoming knowlegable, we have since removed the strangle collar he has a flat collar, beniful went out the door and he is on TOTW, and many small changes have taken effect and is molding this pup into a great family member. I hope to learn so much more from this site.

Oh good to hear I was going to comment on the collar too but hoped you already saw and learned and you have so that is good. I learned things the same way now Rocky is 6 and a well rounded dog. P.S. I had a bad collar too. Welcome and good luck with your pup. Not a chain but still a choke with like a rope. This slip collar was sold to me at the training class I went too which I ended up quitting and going changing to clicker training. Not to over take or hijack your welcome thread just posting to show many of us started out just as you have.
