So I am scheduled to do a War Dogs Lecture possible show a documentary and discussion at my Library end of May for Memorial Day. So I have to start working on it and doing research. I still have to decide what I am doing. A lecture combining working war dogs of pacific, Vietnam as well as the Gulf with how soldiers have took in strays etc. show clips of documentaries and let people choose to watch on their own time as I have the library ordering a few documentaries. Unfortunately no dog left behind is not available on a dvd yet as far as I know and I cant show a recorded version at the library but it is really what I think I really want to talk about since it is current. I much rather talk of current since generally the war programs at library are WWII Do a documentary like War dogs of the Pacific and then show power point with discussion. Also working on getting a Vietnam war dogs documentary that has awesome reviews As usual I would appreciate opinion. Suggestions and best places to find information. I have the Library ordering several books that I would like to use. I often take this one out which I get from another library www.amazon.com/War-Dogs-History-Loyalty-Heroism/dp/1574882163/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1331387134&sr=8-3 Does anyone know if Pit Bull Placebo has info on the dog thats on the cover? Thanks everyone

The dog on the cover is Sally, and she's from PA. There's info in the book on her.

Well it has been decided I will be presenting. War Dogs: America's forgotten four legged hero's
I will cover history as far back as I can find not too much detail there just a touch. Civil war Sallie and Jack who just happen to be what I think are Pit Bulls. I did notice that all three dogs often called pit bulls Sallie, Jack and Stubby are all noted as Bull Terriers. I think that is because the breed was fairly new to the country at the time and went by a few different breed titles one was just plain Pit Bull Terrier. Im guessing they dropped the pit because it sounded bad? Anyone know more about this. I wont go too off on it but you know I have to throw some of my breed fancy in there. Ok then on to WWI, WWII and Vietnam and not sure how much there is on Korea but will try to find something in case I have veterans in the audience. Then the more current wars Iraq and Afghan here I will touch on the soldier dogs. THere has been much interest and books being put out since the raid on Bin Ladin so I will probably have to condense this. But my main agenda is to cover the stray dogs that find their way into a soldiers heart. Helping him through. And the lucky ones that get to go home with their soldiers and the ones that dont. How we can help that program. Oh and I also will let it be known that the soldier dogs can also be adopted. Its not an easy process but it is possible. Veterans and military people have first shot before a civilian. I will post my flyer soon as I am hoping for library director to make changes. However she already printed them out without waiting for my reply. She has also written up a bio for me which I am waiting for the final copy. This presentation is going to be very difficult for me. I have a hard time as it is speaking in public without turning all red and getting a shaky voice. I just started working on this and already I cant make it through a story or video without crying my eyes out.
