We've had an influx of new members the past few weeks, and I just wanted to take a moment to welcome everyone. Feel free to post an intro on yourself and your dog(s).
Glad to have you all here!

Hi All. New here. I have wanted a Pit for years now. I can't seem to make the decision. I've read and read on several forums/information sites all about the breed, and my daughter has a Pit but...over a two years ago I put in to adopt one from a rescue. I filled out a detailed app. with everything on it but my shoe size! It was over a half a dozen pages. Anyway, I was turned down because I work!, and because I said that while I wasn't home I would crate the dog! Well! That just made me so self conscience about even trying to get a dog. I wanted to help this little girl, but I wasn't good enough? I just don't get it? They said that Pits shouldn't be crated; that the dog would be too stressed. So, who does one listen to? I've read a lot of rants about shelters and rescues making it so hard to adopt. That being said, I don't blame them for screening the heck out of everyone but there has to be a happy medium. It's like adopting a baby-a human baby! What to do? Any suggestions from anyone? I adopted two rescued kittens instead, but I still want a Pit.

Hey there! Most people who own Pit Bulls will crate them at some point, especially if other animals are in the home. Sounds like you ran into a misinformed shelter that wasn't necessarily being realistic about adoption. Crating CAN be a wonderful tool, IF done properly. I do think lots of rescues/shelters wouldn't want to adopt to a home that would leave the dog crated for 8 or 10 hours a day, though, without relief. Any questions you have, or resources you need, please be sure to ask. Here to help!

Hi I'm new and I'm getting my very own pit this January. I've been around the breed for about 25 yrs. My aunt used to breed and I was always around them since I was around 6. Had to convince my husband that they would be the perfect pet. We are getting our boy from a good local breeder. I've known him for 2 yrs and he keeps 6 of his dogs in his house at all times. They are very good temperamented dogs. And they are from weightpulling lines.

Hey, welcome aboard and congrats on your new baby. You must be so excited! The next few months will be tortuously long, I assure you! lol But it's a good time to get a pup, after the holiday craziness has subsided.

Hello- My name is Faith and I got my first pit about 5 months ago named lola. Shes brought so much joy to our lives- not to mention how much we've learned about the breed. My better half and I are thinking about fostering 1 (probably not 2) once we move into our new house (which will be next week). We want to get settled first but we love the breed so much and want to do all we can to help them. However i'm not sure how smart of an idea that is. Lola can be tempermental around some other animals. She was "back yard bred" so to speak. A friend decided to get a female to breed with her boyfriends male- not the best idea but we did get lola out of it. Any suggestions on fostering and what it's like? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
