I'm new to the forum. Rescued a red nose pit today. She had been there for almost 2 months. I was a little concerned at first in the shelter, she wasn't very social. I adopted her anyway when I got her home, It was like someone flipped a switch in her. Tail was wagging, licking me like crazy, went right into her crate. A relief for sure. She seems to be a little shy and skittish but is definitely warming up.
She a bit headstrong in the walking department wants to pull and lunges at other animals. gonna need some work there.
I look forward to the advice and info here.

Welcome aboard! Thank you so much for rescuing! It sounds like she is very grateful! We would love to see pictures of your sweet girl! For my the EasyWalk and Sporn harnesses worked great to help with pulling, I've also heard great things about the freedom harness. I'm sure others will have recommendations, as well!

Good luck with your new pooch. Thank you for rescuing. Yes freedom harness usadogshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=28 and sensation or sensible are awesome www.softouchconcepts.com/ personally recommend over the Easy Walk but I do not recommend the Sporne. Easy Walk over the Sporne. Sensation/sensible or Freedom over the easy walk. The Freedom is extremely adjustable as dog grows. Which mine grew after 2 years and beyond. And the sensation/sensible they will add inches as needed for 5.00. I actually had one customized to Rocky's size for an extra 5.00. ANd I am devastated that his original one I needed to send back for adjustment is missing. I hope I did not leave it at the shelter where I used it to walk my favorite pit bull resident. But if all you can find is the sporne it is a good start. I dont like it because it has rubbed Rocky raw. And it physically stops the pulling so you are not really able to train to walk nice. Where the others take the power out of the pull but gives them the opportunity to try therefore able to train not to pull. Hope that makes sense.

I liked the EasyWalk better than the Sporn, but the Easy Walk rubbed Saxon's chest/belly and actually caused a cut. So I moved to the sporn because it had padded straps. It worked pretty well, but not as well as the EasyWalk. Carolann gives a very good assessment/review of the harnesses.

Welcome welcome!
Congratz on your new family member. Definitely echo some of the other members here on the harnesses. Just purchased one very similar in design to the sensable. My 4'11 mother used to get dragged by our 48ish lb pit-mix. She tried the new harness on a late night walk and had much better control.

Cat- what you can do is take those fuzzies from the sporne and put them over the straps of the easy walk. If it is on the chest go to pharmacy like CVS to the foot department and get some mole skin. Cut it and stick it on the straps. Rockys sensation harness has the sporne fuzzy on the belly strap. I shall take a photo of that. For him the sporne left sores on his chest where the metal clips are.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new girl. She is a beauty! I would def. reccomend you start by reading through the training section and management section and feel free to ask any questions.
One word of advice be sure to closely supervise your girl around other animals.

She isn't my first Pit so I'm familiar with the animal aggression. Training is going well, indoors she does everything I ask. Outdoors is a different story but were working on it.
They said her name is Peach..why I don't know, but she answers to it so I guess it's gonna stay.lol She's housebroken as well. Doesn't look like she's been bred and she isn't scarred up. Can't figure out why she was dumped.
So far I couldn't ask for a better dog considering the circumstances.
