So we've got Enzo 1 week through the 2 week shutdown. For the most part, he's been leashed to my belt. He's now starting to pull or walk fast when we go out for potty, down the steps when we wake up, etc.
He's a stray so i have not idea if he's ever had any training, he doesn't know any basic commands, etc.
Question is... What should i be doing to help shape his behavior while on the leash when we're inside the house? when we go out to pee?
DO i let him pull? Wait it out?

No dont let him pull. I need some time too busy right now to write it all out. If it has been a week start some basic training get him use to the clicker.

We're not doing ANY training with him yet. For the most part, i have him attached to me via a leash, and i take him out on the leash to go potty. Most of the time he's attached to me, he tries to pull. What i was asking the group was... should i stop moving when he starts to pull in these scenarios. We plan to start charging the clicker soon.

Yes, stop moving or change direction.

I found my dog pulls what do I do by Turid Rugas helpful. But if I remember the choice of harness she recommends attaches on the back which I do nohttp://www.amazon.com/My-Dog-Pulls-What-Do/dp/1929242239/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335102387&sr=8-1t recommend for this breed of dog. Check your library for this book. I got my library to purchase a copy I will see if it is available so I can give you some of the best tips I found.

OK I got the book.
The Basic Method Recipe. Ingredients One Dog One Person Harness Or soft Collar Leash Treats Method-The short Version Teach the dog to respond to a signal, for example clicking with your tongue or that here poochie sound we make with out lips (i use the lips sound and slapping my leg)
STOP immediately when the leash becomes tight or is about to tighten WAIT two seconds stand still say nothing MAKE a clicking or smacking sound with tongue or lips When the dog starts to turn his head toward you PRAISE him WALK a couple of steps in another direction and the dog will follow REWARD the dog for following Repeat every time you want to change direction or whenever the dog is about to pull.
On the last hike I went on the trainer suggested to someone to whisper the dogs name when in these situations. It helps us to avoid getting a nasty tone of voice. I thought that was a great idea. Since when on hiking the dogs constantly stop to sniff and when you want to keep going and say dogs name and lets go we tend to get a less patient tone of voice so whispering just makes you be a little more calm.

Thanks for posting. I've tried this with Jackie and i was never successful The new little guy pulls all over in the house..so we'd pretty much be standing still or always going backward in doing so. Right now, we've tried no training with him. He has no name and knows no commands working on charging the clicker for 3 days now and he just doesn't get it

and patience patience patience. Suzanne Clothier says that dogs get housebroken because it's really really important to us that they not poop in the house, so we're attentive and persistent. With leash walking, OTOH, dogs pull because we let them. You have to want them not to pull more than you want to actually walk, and more than your dog wants to pull.

Patience is the best thing, I know you have him tethered to you but this is what worked with me. It took about a week for him to get used to the routine. Yes you will be going in circles a lot but it does work. I found my boy liked small pieces of bologna or hot dog. I worked with him outside. When the leash got taunt I stopped turned another direction, said "come", treat, good boy lots of praise. He got the hang of what I wanted after a week. I weaned off the food and started using the clicker with lots of praise. Taunt, "come" click, praise. You have to be consistent and patient. I was getting dizzy in the beginning forever going in circles but it subsided once he realized what i wanted. He not only learned "come" he learned to stay close to my side. Read up on NILIF.(Nothing in life is free). He has to work for everything.
