Jackie came clicker charged so i have no idea it should take for them to learn it.
We've been at it a few days and when i throw in a random click when he's looking away, nothing.
I know all dogs are different, but on average how long should this take?
My first time starting from ground zero with a clicker...they weren't in use(or widely known) when i got my first dog
thanks

Well first of all dont throw in a random click when he is looking away unless that is what you wanted him to do. If you have clicked treated him several times now then move on to saying his name and when he looks at you click treat. then you can click treat when he does what you want him to do without even any command. For example you are sitting watching tv and he goes and lays on his bed. Click treat. Tethering while training a new dog can be helpful. Check out the free video always play the magnet game which has a section on the end on how to do this. www.raisewithpraise.com/DogTrainingVideoLibrary.htm#freebies
