Need help asap!

Hey guys, as you may or may not know I usually try my best to take care of situations my self without asking for help but now I could use a little assistance. I'll just cut to the chase.

I have a POS cousin who acquired a pit as a puppy about 4 or 5 years ago. She's never taken care of him so he's been living with my grandmother his whole life. Well, my grandmother passed earlier this year and now he (his name is Scrapper) is homeless. My cousin has stolen everything from my grandmother's house and left nothing but Scrapper. He's there by himself and the conditions are horrible, most of the windows in the house are broken and he's walking all over the glass. I could be a little more descriptive but I think you guys get the point.

Sorry for the rant, this was supposed to be concise. My mom is in Virginia now, Hampton to be exact and she stopped by the house which is why I know all of this. She's taken Scrapper out of the house and doesn't want to bring him back. She can't take him back to NY where she lives but would like to find a place for him that is safe. She has been asking friends and family to help to no avail. I figured I'd give it a shot here and see what happens. If anyone knows anywhere that isn't already full of dogs and can handle one more please let me know as soon as possible. My mom will only be down there for a few more days, I think she can bring him up here if necessary but he cannot stay with her.

P.P.S My mom has called nearly all the shelters in that area and they all said either they don't take pits or are full. SMH

Wow, what an awful situation. Poor Scrapper. I'm in Chicago so can't be much help, but we've got lots of Northeast people on the forum so I'm sure someone will have a resource to share. Good luck.

Try Jasmine's House Rescue up in Mt. Airy, MD. Here's their site. www.jasmineshouse.org/ It's a long shot because I'm sure they're maxed out, too, but you never know!

Isn't PETA pretty anti-pit?

Where in NY is your mom? If its anywhere near LI or NYC you could try Bobbi & the Strays or Forgotten Friends of Long Island.

nooooooooooooooo! Whatever they tell your mom will be a lie.
It would be better to put the dog on "free to a good home" Craigslist or freecycle. And doing THAT isn't a good idea.

I thought the same thing. I thought they were anti pit bull but my mom believed what they said and gave them Scrapper. She took him for a two hour walk and gave him a big streak dinner. I feel bad because I wish there more I can do. I just didn't want him going to anyone that would fight him or would be irresponsible and have Scrapper hurt someone. I'm sorry guys I feel like I let him down.

Oh no. Poor Scrapper. We can only hope that he is in the 3% of dogs that PETA actually rehomes instead of PTS.

PeTA will kill him. Period. The fact that they will sweet talk your mom into thinking otherwise just shows how sick they are.

I had a situation here in South Jersey involving the director of a shelter by the shore known to slaughter Pit Bulls who was meddling into a case that I got involved in, telling the person holding the dog to be distrustful of all others and give her the dog. I was able to document this person's history so that the person with the dog knew who she should really distrust. That director was eventually caught selling the heads of euth'd dogs to research places and ended up with a felony conviction. What can I say? Criminals are criminals and a lot of criminals are first and foremost con artists.
