Siouxland Humane Society contacted me again asking for help, cross posting a couple of dogs. They are 'guessing' this dog is a lab pit bull mix:    She didn't get along w/ the other house dog, so it is 'assumed' she doesn't get along with other dogs. She's big, 71lbs, affectionate and well behaved. I personally am not sold on the pit bull part of her. So I figured I'd ask the experts here what you see in her. |

It's a tough one. I don't see it, but how is their law enforced? Who decides?

If this dog is declared a pit bull, it can't be in Sioux City.
I'm actually 125 miles west of Sioux City, in Oneill, Ne.

If this dog is declared a pit bull, it can't be in Sioux City. I'm actually 125 miles west of Sioux City, in Oneill, Ne. Ok, I'm about 90 miles NE of Sioux City in Spencer. As far as this dog goes, who makes the call? If the Siouxland Humane Society declares this dog to not be a Pit Bull, will AC and the police respect that? I had a run in with the director of Sioux City's AC regarding Malinois rescue that leads me to believe that she doesn't have the best interest of dogs in mind. Jane didnt' answer me about AC/police. She did say that the staff didn't think she was a pit/lab. She's been there awhile now, and so has this cute little pit bull Sahara. I've cross posted and posted both dogs on petfinder... so hopefully someone contacts Jane about them soon!  |

It's hard because the west side of the state is so full of BSL. I wouldn't be surprised if 50% of the towns in this area have BSL. Grant and I got invited to an event at another library, and we had to decline because the town bans the breed. My husband can't have him at his work because they are banned, and his Children's Librarian's husband is on city council. She even asked for Grant to come once, and her husband is in favor of the ban. Idiots.

I know when I went to pick up Denali I was quick to get out of town, and didn't stop to fuel up and take a break until I was well out of Ia. *lol* I was paranoid I'd stop in the wrong place or something.

Does it matter anymore whether a dog is or isn't a Pit Bull? If SOMEone identifies a dog as a "pit bull", it is one, and that's all that matters.  |
