Re-Arranging Crates

I moved the dog crates (winston and cleveland) out of my bedroom last night because we're due for a heat wave and my central air is still out. (going on a 2 week wait for repair man) I have a window air conditioner in my living room right now, so I closed off everything but the living room and kitchen.
I realized today that I had to come up with a plan to get Wrinkles past the other dogs to get her outside.

Normally I let her out first, put her back in her area, then let the other dogs out. At other times I just shut the boys in the bedroom while she goes out.

I finally just decided to suck it up and and let her go by the crates.

None of the dogs growled, barked etc.
Winston was a bit interested in her, but acted like it was no biggie. Cleveland did act very interested. One wrong move on her part would have sent him into a barky butt fit I think. She just ignored both dogs and made her way to the door.

*whew*

Lately she has been giving the boy dogs a lot of grief and hassle. She is "gaurding" her kitchen now. If the other dogs go near her gate, she goes nuts. They actually don't have to get that close... Just lay on the sofa near her side and she gets all up in a hissy.
She actually scares Winston now, and Cleveland will remove himself with out hassle.

I will never ever let her be with the other dogs. Cleveland is too unpredictable in how he will react and I have no intentions of finding out.
But if we could at least crate in the same room, or something, that would be awesome.

Now, at least I won't worry about the dogs getting too hot.

I've done that before with Snorts and Mav. I've had Mav crated with Snorts walking in and out of the room with no issue. Now I bet if it was Snorts in the crate and Mav out, Snorts would get scared and start growling. Probably the same thing would happen with Wrinkles. She's probably better being the one loose while the others are crated.

How many times did you check to see that the crate doors were shut and locked before you let her out? lol 5? 10?

Melonie, You may find one day that they all appear to get along together. I know that won't fool you. They lie, you know.

Even though Lola and Sedona show absolutely no aggression or guarding while in close proximity, I will never let them be in the same room unconfined. Ever. Not even with expereinced help. Lola comes in the living room when Sedona is crated and she will walk to her crate and look at Sedona, then turn and go about her business. Likewise Sedona will actually playbow to Lola when Lola is crated, and Lola will ignore her and actually look through her as if she doesn't exist. But Lola does at times stare Sedona down, and even though Sedona doesn't respond, I know what Lola is thinking, and what Sedona can do. Heck I'm even afraid to walk outside the house to get the mail when all are uncrated.

There's never a dull moment when living with multi-pits.

So. True. Lebowski will do play bows at the other dogs when they're in their crate, he'll even sniff and lick at them through the crate door... but I *KNOW* for a fact (we had an escape once) that he will try to kill them the second they're free together. He's a lying liar!

Cleveland sounds a lot like Lola. He doesn't ignore her, but he just holds himself in a manner that I do not trust. He's one of those lying liars.


I do know that if Wrinkles were the one in a crate w/ a loose dog, she would react. She still "lives" in the kitchen and my daughters room. I have to keep the other rooms shut or she gets into stuff she's not supposed to! The other dogs have no access to that part of the house.

I have no desire to test their friendship. I'm not even tempted. I didn't even want to prance her in front of the other dogs! I do praise the dogs are we're going through in hopes they learn to at least not freak me out.

I will likely have to board the dogs next weekend. I'll be taking them to my vets' place that is about 20 miles away. I have to make two trips because I don't have enough room to keep them separated! I could board here in town but I don't trust anyone enough to keep them separated properly. My vet knows my dogs, and how they get along. I won't worry about them with her!
