Once again, they voice their hatred for Pit Bulls and their ignorance.
This time, disguised as support for a shelter who won't adopt them out.
I hate PETA with every ounce of my being.
I am so disappointed that they're largely the reason I fell into animal advocacy. They don't deserve the credit.

NORFOLK, Va. — Re: "No-adopt rule is unfair for pit bulls, owners.

Kudos to the Jackson County Animal Shelter for refusing to adopt out pit bulls. Pit bulls can be loving companions when cared for by kind people. Sadly, they are also the most abused breed of dogs.
Many of the people who acquire pit bulls aren't looking for companionship — they are looking for a status symbol. Pit bulls are often starved and beaten to make them "mean" and to train them to attack people and other animals, or they are used as "guard" dogs — chained and virtually forgotten, lucky to get any scrap of food that is tossed at them. To prevent future instances of abuse, pit bulls — and, considering the massive overpopulation problem, dogs and cats of any breed — should be spayed or neutered.
Not only can the dogs themselves be dangerous, their "trainers" often are as well — violence toward animals is strongly linked to other crimes, including the drug trade and violent crimes against people.
Experts agree that it is the severity of the abuse, not the species of the victim, that matters.
We can help keep animals and our communities safe by reporting suspected cruelty to animals without delay.
