So even though im only 15 to 16 weeks along I started preparing aida for the new arrival, well actually as soon as I found out at 8 weeks we started lol.
Shes always been my center of attention, would follow me every where, etc. I have her to the point now that she doesnt rely on me so much and she'll actually spend a great deal of her time with my boyfriend. But we still take a part of each day to have "mommy and aida" time where its just us doing whatever she wants whether it be a car ride, playing a game, or just cuddle time. Shes doing fantastic with this.
I also know from previously living with a roomate with a baby that normal baby sounds arent new to her, she doesnt get scared or overly excited. Which I believe to be good.
Shes also been around a majority of basic baby products and toys. And I was actually in shock the first time my roomates baby handed her a stuffed monkey, she turned her head and wouldnt take it.. All without any training to do so.
I kind of wonder if it would be a bad idea to have her at the baby shower, that way she can see/smell the new things right there before I bring them home (im planning a combination birthday baby shower bbq next month).
One more concern is I fear she'll get so protective of the baby. She somewhat is with other kids she knows. My friends 3 year old was playing with my boyfriend one day outside and she screamed. Aida immediatey bolted over and placed herself between the child and my boyfriend. She didnt do anything but I worry that with the new baby being "hers" she'll end up worse. (and I say hers in meaning its not someone who she just plays with but a part of her family).
Other than that I dont have any concerns about her and the baby as I know she, does awesome with kids. In fact I have pictures and videos of her playing and cuddling with kids. And shes even gotten to go to work with me one day and hang out with adults that have varying degrees of mental retardation. She really is a fantastic dog.
If theres anything im missing here please tell me, id like this to go as smooth as possible
