My boy passed his CGC test this a.m. And... he also learned to jump up in the backseat of the truck unassisted this week! I am proud of him.

What does the CGC test entail ? How did you prepare for it and how long did you train in preparation for this ?

What does the CGC test entail ? How did you prepare for it and how long did you train in preparation for this ? sharron Here is a post that describes the CGC test in detail. therealpitbull.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=moldmanagethepitbullmind&thread=69&page=1#334Perseus and I took a beginning obedience class back in the spring - 6 week class - then took an intermediate class after with about a month or so break in between. I would like to say that we worked every day faithfully on all the commands but I didn't:) But I was pretty consistent and learned that it all doesn't have to be done all in one session. Taking even two minutes at a time at various times of the day will yield results. The biggest thing I learned was really praising the desired behavior religiously. That and not getting frustrated - just stop if if you get frustrated and come back to it later. It's really not a hard test and if you are really putting some time in w your dog shouldn't be a problem passing. I do agree with the sentiments in that other post that waiting till they are about a year old might be wise.
