Wrinkles is driving me nuts. Driving my daughter nuts, and likely driving my neighbors nuts as well.
She started barking at thunder, fireworks, etc.. when my daughter left for 3 weeks.
The only way I could get her to settle was to sit near her.
I used treats to help her through it and hopefully have her relate the noise to something good.
Well, the barking has escalated. No longer will she quiet if someone is with her. We haven't had storms really, and fireworks ended awhile ago! But we're heading into harvest season, which means the grain elevators are busy. Which means the trains are running a lot. When they are filling the train cars, the movement sounds a lot like thunder. Which sets Wrinkles off.
I figured she might be barking out of boredom, and luckily the last couple days have been reasonably nice outside so I've walked her. Didn't help a bit last night!
It's really hard to keep a calm attitude at 4 am when your dog barks non stop! Ignoring it hasn't worked out so well. Telling her to hush doesn't work either. Treats, that'll shut her up until the next car moves when you're away from her. She sleeps with my daughter, and that hasn't even helped her keep calm during this.
Not sure what to try next. As more crops start coming in, the more often we'll have trains running almost every night. We need to come through this season with at least a shred of sanity. But I'm not sure what else to do to help her.
She doesn't act afraid, or nervous. She just barks like mad!
