Ok, we know we're all Pit Bull crazy, but what other stuff floats your boat? Feel free to share your hobbies, interests, etc.
For me, I love sharks and marine mammals (the very first job I ever thought I wanted was to be a marine biologist).
I'm a big reader/movie watcher.
I have a huge affinity for New Orleans (dunno why or where it came from) and Ancient Egypt.
And I'm a yoga and reiki practitioner.
;D

horses, horse back riding (if I had a horse right now I would be pole bending and barrel racing him)
Reading true life novels, movies and my favorite thing is to have friends over and eat.....especially my daughter, we love to gab and share news (and vent too).

I'm active in cat rescue and practice trap-neuter-release with the feral cats in my neighborhood. I also have two guinea pigs, and I'm a big animal welfare/animal shelter/animal rescue advocate. I volunteer where I can and when I can.
I also volunteer for my town historical society (Leesport Area Historical Society) and am on the special events committee. We just sponsored a community days event and opened a 1958 time capsule last month. This month we are doing a harvest event with hayrides, etc. My other historical commitment is at the Daniel Boone Homestead, where we do education programs and portray life in the 18th century. The Homestead is having their Heritage Days this month.
I am interested in historic architecture and folkways, as well as historic, farmland, and habitat preservation. Other topics include the separation of church and state, equal marriage rights, fighting poverty, literacy, and more, so I write a lot of letters to legislators and try to keep up on information as much as possible.
Oh, and I enjoy reading, writing, going for walks, attending shows and concerts, visiting museums and historic sites, flea marketing, gardening (organically), etc. I would actually be getting somewhere if my health wasn't holding me back...

Marthina....I miss riding horses so much; I hope for the day I have some land and can get my Arabs and Appaloosas. Eating, for me, is unfortunately also a pastime I love!
Val....I love museums; I am planning on going to the MoMa in the next month or so to see the Van Gogh exhibit (one of my fave artists), as well as the Museum of Natural History - they have a horse exhibit as well as a reptile exhibit I'd love to see.

Hell, I never saw this the first day lol! If I had more time, I'd definitely spend it riding horses. I LOVE their earthy smell. I like to fish, swim, and do other outdoorsy things. Umm...believe it or not, I like to write too. I need peace and quiet for that though and it's so few and far between anymore. I LOVE drawing but again, I need quiet so I can get into my right brain. For those of you into drawing, "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" is a great book to really get you thinking. I do like to read too, mainly Dean Koontz and non-fiction pieces like the Karen Delise books, but time is low for a lot of that too. Peace and quiet thing lol. I really don't like watching TV much at all unless it's on Animal Planet, Discovery, or HGTV. I could watch HGTV all day. Umm....I think that's it for now lol. I'm sure there's more

I'm currently working on my B. Comm. in Accounting/Economics and will be the Cdn version of a CPA (relatively) soon. After that I want to go to grad school and get my MBA, but that's down the road a ways. I'd like to work for an NPO when I'm done, but this is an expensive city to live in and that might not work out financially.
I love the outdoors...hiking, walking, camping, swimming, kayaking, boating. I'm at peace when I'm near the ocean or out in the forest. Environmental issues are a big interest of mine, as well as animal conservation. I'm a vegetarian who is slowly working towards veganism. Slowwwwly lol!
I love to read but don't get enough time these days. Sometimes my brain is just too tired from all the reading I do for school to even pick up a book. I watch movies all the time (less brain power required!)...only types I don't tend to enjoy are sappy romances and westerns. I'm also addicted to word and number puzzles.
I enjoy photography, modern art, fashion, and music. Aside from playing the piano, I don't consider myself very creative, but I can sure appreciate others' works!
Socio-political issues are important to me too. When I first went to college right after high school I majored in Sociology with a Political Science minor. I've been called a "hippie socialist" many times...although personally I don't think that's an accurate description.
Ok, I think that's enough for now lol!

Cool thread...interesting finding out this about you all! Other stuff I like is travelling to other places which I rarely get to do. I'd love to go out of the country even just once. Dying to see Australia and Germany. But even trips to other cities are a blast for me. I'm into training (oops, pit bull related) and reading anything and everything about canine behavior. I love to read in general, big Stephen King fan but I rarely get the chance to settle into a non dog related book. Photography is something I love but i suck at it b/c I have crappy equipment. I LOVE fishing and am fortunate to live right near the water and beaches and an island. My husband and I fish alot. I dig my kids and stuff they are into. I'm also a groupie, of sorts, my husband plays bass in a heavy metal/hard rock band and so going to gigs are great fun...not so much the next morning. I love muscle cars, loud music, sarcasm (if not mean), people who keep you laughing, drinking beer, hanging around a fire with good friends or even one good friend, watching movies and tv and playing pool occasionally and Alabama football (though my timing here sucks).

Wow Jessica... thanks for making my post for me. Ha! That's me in a nutshell too! LOL! I suppose I could add a couple more things to the list tho huh. I'm not very computer savvy when it comes to maintaining a PC, but I do have fun with the www side of things. I'm a "retired" graphics and web designer actually. I don't do it as a profession anymore but I still enjoy playing with things and I devote my skills to keeping up with New Hope's web site and helping friends with their graphical/web site needs (even tho I'm slow going right Mary lol). I also like to cook. I'm not a "housewife" that makes traditional things like meatloaf and home made bread tho. I like to try all kinds of new and fun dishes, and I LOVE international stuff that makes people look at me and go " ".

Hah! You wanna talk about food? I have got to be one of the pickiest eaters known to man! Probably to the dismay of several of you, I am NOT a veggie person in the slightest and would likely wither away and die. I like corn, carrots in moderation, peaches, green apples only (and once they start getting brown from the air I'll quit eating them), and that's about it on the "healthy" side of things. I hate beans. I don't like nuts of any kind. My lettuce on sandwiches has to be the shredded kind or none at all. And when I make salads, I have to use the green leaf lettuce and not the iceburg kind because I cannot stand "thick" lettuce. Blech!
I joke to everyone and tell them that I'm a carnivore. Meat, cheese, and pasta and I'm good. Sometimes I like cooking, but the majority of the time I don't. I'm not a bad cook, but nothing to rave about either rofl!

Alicia, did you read Koontz' new book 'by' his Golden Trixie? Hmm.. no. Which is that? I just saw an ad for it, it's called Bliss, and it's supposed to be written in the words of his departed Golden Retriever. Lessons on life, or something like that, through the eyes of a dog. I thought it looked cool.
