I absolutely love the ocean - I'm about 30 min from the nearest beach where I'm at now, but I've wanted to move closer to the shore for basically my whole life. My family does have a beach house with brings me closer to the ocean on weekends during the summer, but it's not the same. Another reason I want to move close to the ocean, is that I want to volunteer for marine mammal rescue. Working with marine mammals was my dream before becoming a trainer and doing do rescue stuff. I still dream (literally) about working with dolphins - although I love sharks, too, and for a while my plan was to go to school for marine biology.
I've voluntered at an aqaurium, and it was just amazing. I'd probably still be doing it if the aquarium was closer. *sigh*

I love the ocean, too. Very intrigued by what's in there. I love going out on a boat and anchoring off little islands and being the only ones there, the smell, sounds, everything. A close friend of mine is a shark biologist so it's always really interesting to learn about the ins and outs and she's so passionate about her work. One of my life dreams is to dive with great white sharks. Can't guarantee that I would actually get into a cage if ever had the opportunity but they fascinate me. Last year, my husband and a couple of friends were fishing at night in a shrimp boat canal, the shrimp boats (think Forrest Gump, lol) have these bright lights that attract Specks and we just sit there constantly bringing them in. Earlier that afternoon we saw a manatee. It had been sighted a few times and they reported it on the news, asking anyone who sees it to report the sighting & location to NOAA. I had never seen one in the wild and it was the coolest thing, once we realized what it was, that is! Apparently, it had gotten a little off course as we rarely see them here.

Ooo, I am jealous of where you live! Sounds awesome.
I have wanted to dive with white sharks, too. We've talked about Australia for our honeymoon - I'd love to see those leaping whites sharks they've got down there! I never get sick of seeing them on film. Pretty amazing.

Oh my, don't be jealous of where I live! Far more cons than pros! LOL Demographics, anyone??
I will say that I adore the proximity to the water. And lots of it, lakes, rivers, gulf, the Mississippi Sound is less than a mile from my house.
We had a fabulous little educational sea world type place in Gulfport, Ms (about 40 min from us) right on the water. We went there a few times and the dolphins were fabulous, tossing balls out of their circular pools and hitting people in the head. LOL
It was a beautiful facility and offered school field trips shows with sea lions and shows and hands on stuff. Then hurricane Katrina came and dessimated it.
This was the place the dolphins washed out to the gulf and the trainers went out looking for them, it was soooo sad. Most of the dolphins had no "street sense" so to speak and a couple were killed or starved.
We also are only 2 hours from New Orleans and the fabulous aquarium there. On Dauphin Island, about 30 min from us, there's a really great sea lab which doesn't get the props it deserves.
I really want to go to the aquarium in Atlanta! Not a far fetched idea, only 6 hrs from us and I hear it is spectacular!

i am into ice fishing, camping, just being outdoors. i love to watch the weather, take pics of the weather. take pics of anything, watching/going to vikings games (too bad they lost yesterday... it was fun being there).
going to metal/hardcore concerts. getting tattoos. hanging with my wife. going to her kickboxing fights.
but most importantly growing in my relationship with Jesus, trying to live my life like he did. via following the bible, not living by man made rules or working/being good to get to heaven(religion). just living in his grace everyday.
