www.kmph.com/story/19934606/pit-bulls-need-homes-giveaway-in-san-diegoSAN DIEGO, Calif. (KMPH) - After recent strings of violent incidents involving pit bulls, the San Diego Humane Society and animal control officials in San Diego, are clearing the bad rep surrounding the canines. If you look at that type of dog they can be intimidating. They have a brick-like head that houses powerful jaws. They also have a thickly muscled, well-defined neck. Many states have enacted or are trying to enact breed specific laws against the breed but San Diego Animal Control says over the years pit bulls have had the bad luck of being mistreated or raised to be aggressive to then serve as guard dogs. To promote pit bull adoptions, the SPCA and animal control officials are waiving all fees and giving discounted training and spay and neuter service. Those interested must also pass an inspection to ensure they can provide the care and space needed for a pit bull.

Cheese-n-rice. This is the second give-a-way I've seen recently. "Got a fenced yard? Here's yer pit bull!"

My goodness , what is the matter with these people ???
That opens the doors to more 'irresponsible' people getting these dogs !! Why don't these morons go door to door and give these dogs to anyone with a fenced yard and grass ???
This idea is outrageous and stupid !! In my opinion , this give away is undoing what small , large rescues have been working hard to avoid !!
We want these precious dogs to be adopted by responsible people. This is why we have applications , check vet records , references and ask the questions we ask !
'Inspection of a yard to ensure they can provide care and space needed for a pit bull".That's just CRAZY !! How many people we come across that don't care if their dogs have water or food ??? This makes me angry !!!
