Today while out raking leaves again, (Curse you deciduous trees!) our neighbor's Newfie came over the fence to say hello.
Maxine was out with us of course, and I had a little moment of happy dance. For the first time since she's come to live with us, Maxine had no reaction to the presence of another dog. She turned her head, seen who it was, and went back to chewing on her muddy tennis ball.
Now granted she has seen this dog through the fence for almost a year now, and this Newfie is one of the least reactiony dogs I've ever seen..But still..No fur up, no growling, no tense body.
Could this be progress I smell?
Still would'nt trust her with another dog without a fence between them, but I'll take small victories when they come.

Good Girl Maxine, but yeah good idea not to trust it, but rejoice in the fact that she could care less and the muddy ball was more interesting.
