I'm still shaking over this guy.
One of our neighbors on the block threatened to call Animal Control on Maxine because she was 'acting aggressive' to his off-leash German Shorthaired Pointer.
So I live on a pretty standard block for a detroit suburb, about ten houses per block-per side of the street. I'm in the second house from the corner, the other guy about five houses down on the opposite side of the street.
I often take Maxine out on the leash with me in the morning. It's just in our front yard and we'll normally just chill on the porch (Its an open almost raised patio area), after she has done her morning business in the backyard.
This morning we're out enjoying the winter air, Maxine is sitting next to me on the steps and I have the leash wrapped all but a few inches in my fist due to frequent squrriels running around. All of a sudden my neighbor down the street lets his GSP out the door, off leash. This is a reguler thing with him, he has one of those tennis ball chuckers and he will use the entire block as his fetch area.
Most of the time I can hear him coming out and I'll grab Maxine inside, however I must have still been half asleep because the next thing I know, His dog is bounding down the block towards us. Maxine sees the other dog and starts getting excited, the GSP is now barking, pacing back and forth on the sidewalk about a house lenght down from us.
I start shouting down the block to the guy," Get your Dog! Get your Dog!"
He comes down the block yelling back about keeping my vicious animal in the backyard were she belongs and that if he ever sees Maxine out in the front again he's going to call Animal Control and report a vicious pitbull and of course they are going to believe him because he knows the people down there. I shout back, trying to get my keys in the front door so I can just get Maxine inside that his dog is the one off leash so No..He can't do anything.
He goes off about his right to run his dog wherever he wants and that if I can't keep my dog under control she needs to be put down anyway.
Now I'm scared somthing might actually happen. The logical part of my brain says that he can't do anything...But I'm still slightly freaking out.
