winston is adorable, and so is kai, however, .. he was giving clear indications of turning his face away to not be bothered.. with the turning around the final sign.. honestly i would not let him or cleveland be bothered by Kai, while everyone might think its cute and he is a good dog for tolerating the makeup, you can clearly see he is stressed during the entire video.. you clearly have 2 dogs who are not thrilled with a toddler and are clearly giving stress signals to be left alone... please listen to both dogs and limit their interactions with your granddaughter ..

Winston is very good with Kai, and he actually seeks her out to cuddle and nap with her. He greets her with kisses and wags. He likes to lay next to her while she is coloring so he can eat her crayons. (if given a chance) The last time she started doing makeup on him I did not catch video because I made her stop. She's 2, and doesn't understand poking him in the eye with her make up tools isn't comfortable to him. This time I grabbed my phone to get the video. I also would not have let her continue because you can see she goes for his eyes, and also wanted to to do his teeth. I re-watched the video looking for his signs of stress. Yes he is turning his head because he doesn't want poked, and played with. But I don't think he's stressed. Winston also hates my phone and always acts like he is a beaten step child when I point it at him. It is hard for me to get a happy put bull smile photo of him because those smiles are rare because he's a pretty stoic dog... catching one w/the cam is harder because he shuts down when he sees it.
If Kai is wound up, grouchy and naughty, I do put Winnie is another room/crate. When she is behaving, and calm is when Winnie has free roam. *I* get fed up with the whining, crying, and naughtiness so I don't expect the dogs to put up with it with grace either. I also don't let her carry on her play with him because she doesn't understand he's not a pony/pillow/doll etc. Or understand the concept of her actions causing something pain.

his first head turn was a stress sign, and the turning around on the couch the 2nd one.... just watch closely for stress signs and remove the dog at the start of the first stress sign. some dogs are fine with little kids when the kids dont bother them, some get nervous when the kids start to interact with them, it depends on the dog.

I'm with ME on this. PLEASE be careful. Even good dogs have a breaking point.

I thought he was looking away because he was giving calming signals that he did not want to be bothered. He does not seem to like the makeup thing. Although sometimes Rocky wants to be pet and at the same time pulls away and looks away which I am not sure if he just does not want a pat in the face area or he does not want to be pet at all. I am assuming he prefers to be pet elsewhere.
