*Warning* I am TERRIBLE at these intro posts. LOL!! That said, I will do my very best to let you all know a lil bit about me, what I do and why I'm here. ;D
I'm Kat, Assistant Director of New Hope Pit Bull Rescue in South Carolina. *waves hello* Currently I am a stay at home mom to two of the most BEAUTIFUL children you'd ever meet... who are my daughter Kaelyn - 10 yrs, and Nicholas - 17 months. I am also a web designer (tho I haven't actually done any paid work for since my son was born... between him and rescue, I find myself very short on time).
I hope it's alright that I copy / paste my intro from the Pit Bull Action Network list because I'm essentially going to retype it here anyway. lol
I've owned and been around Pits for about the last 17 years and dogs in general all my life. I've rescued independently for a number of years now but have only in the last year and a half become involved with organized rescue. New Hope Pit Bull Rescue is a small foster home based organization founded by Alicia Domina (lpyrbby here in the forums) and myself, who together have more than twenty years of experience with the "bully" breeds. We have a wonderful group of volunteers who are dedicated to rehabilitating and re-homing unwanted, stray and abandoned Pit Bull type dogs (including the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier), and to promoting humane treatment of animals through educational programs for our community. We are committed to providing quality veterinary care, as well as,socializing, training, behavioral modification where needed, exercise and daily companionship for all animals in our program. Our passion is to educate the public about the true nature of the Pit Bull and to restore the breed to its former position of esteem in the hearts and minds of people everywhere.
We do have an event planned for Pit Bull Awareness Day. We'll be at
Superpetz in North Charleston for our "Pit Bull Education & Celebration". If anyone here is near Charleston, SC and would like to spend the day with us - educating others about the breed... feel free to stop by! We'd love to meet you! You can learn more about this vent and our organization at www.nhpbr.org/ :-)
