Question about "time out" When Winston and Cleveland are playing and start to get too excited, I separate them and put them in their crates to calm down. This isn't wrong is it? I usually yell them they're too crazy and need to chill....like they can understand me. lol Once they both calm down I let them out and all is calm again. I didn't even know ppl tried to time out dogs like a kid.

Mel, I don't think you're using the time out in the way that she was referring to in her example. You're doing it to end behavior that may lead to a negative outcome. She was saying that it's silly to use "time out" as a punishment with the expectation that it will correct the behavior.
