This broke my heart, but at the same time warmed it. Hopefully Sassy has a sweet life for as long as she's able.

This sounds horrible but what is wrong with her? Just over breeding or something else??
She is absolutely adorable!! Poor sweet baby.

I'm guessing parents that shouldn't have been bred to start with and a puppy that was lucky enough to live. The note I read didn't list everything wrong with her, but apart from her legs, her trachea isn't fully developed, and she has a grade 2 heart murmer, and her sternum isn't where it should be. So much wrong with her that she can't be "fixed".
I've had a dog like that, so much wrong that you do what you can to make them comfy, and love them until their quality of life deteriorates.

I had a little goat like that. She was really sweet, but she only lived about 6 months. She never seemed to be in any pain or anything, and she turned out to be one of my favorites before she died.

I think that with all her physical problems Sassy has a short time with us. But she is happy, and lives in a great home. However long she has with us, she will affect everyone with her exuberance and spirit, and I don't see how she cannot be anything but a positive experience for people that meet her !
