Tomorrow morning I am going to be picking up an urgent Pit Mix that has been in a shelter for almost 3 years (Her ENTIRE life). Meet Sugar. Shes been adopted twice and returned. Once because she ran away & showed up in another shelter (The family was called & didnt want to deal with her) and the second time because the family had a kid. Recently she has 'changed' and it has become obvious that shelter life is officially wearing her down. She paces in circles 90% of the time with her ball in her mouth and does not even notice or care when someone walks by or is at her kennel. (Before she would get excited, jump on the gate etc) Shes just burnt out. :-[ She needs out of kennel & shelter life and needs to be a dog again. She also needs training. Kim (My friend who owns a rescue) gave the shelter my info, Kris and I talked it over and agreed wed help! The shelter is releasing her to me so I am responcible for finding her a new home, They are going to keep her listed but I am ultimately responcible for screening and getting her a good home. I do not know a lot about her right now. I know she was Heartworm postive on arrival at the shelter and was treated. Shes great with kids, great with other dogs, and great with cats. More updates will be soon to come.

You are an awesome person. When you get her and get to know her a bit, post her on your page and I'll definitely share her!

Sugar is home. I'm starting a 2 week shutdown. She's very fearful and it was hard to coax her in the house. You can tell she has not been in a home environment for a long time, she prefers to be crated.
I haven't introduced her to the dogs and don't plan on doing that for 2 weeks.
She's a sweet heart who wants nothing more than a comfy bed and her ball. She loves her ball, carries it with her most of the time. She's very attached.

So, I had a gal message me on Facebook about Sugar and I dont know what to think about this and need opinions ASAP.
I had a girl named Rachel Kovac message me. Shes involved in Presas. She asked for more info about Sugar, I gave her everything I know so far. She informed me she is responcible for finding a drivey, high energy dog for the Nat Geo show 'Alpha Dogs'. I actually think she would be AMAZING in a working home (Especailly flyball or agility) but IDK what to think about this?!?!?!?
Has anyone heard of such a thing?? This has me dumbfounded
Opinions?!

i would let the dog destress over the next few weeks to see what her temperment is like before thinking of placing her on tv... depending on what her temperment is will decide whether she gets adopted or not .... here is a link to the show: channel.nationalgeographic.com/wild/alpha-dogs/

She isnt going any where for awhile.
I just didnt know if this was a hoax or something.... Caught me off guard! Hmm... Very interesting.
I dont think I could send her some where like that. All of her life has been behind bars, its her turn to have a family. Id hate to think of her sitting in a kennel waiting to be trained and worked. :/

Heres a link to lots of pics I posted on FB. www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.10200852006801640.1073741825.1208283508&type=1 Any ideas on what she could be mixed with?? Ive thought GSD, Husky, or Collie. Then a friend of mine said Malinois ...Kinda got me thinking. Shes about 60 pounds, pretty tall. Has a narrow head & athletic body. Her tail curls up over her back. Her hair is short but is a little longer on her tail.

I could see Malinois or GSD mix.... but really it's hard to be sure. Dogs that look like her often turn out to be a mish-mash of lots of breeds, I think.
And yea..... I wouldn't even be considering a TV show type of thing until you have any idea what her temperament is and how she does. It's weird they messaged you on FB though. I put all my foster dogs in ablums and share publicly and never received a message like that before.

I don't know what the show is all about, have to go check it out.

Yeah, why Sugar? She doesn't look drivey or high energy in photos, she looks nervous.
