Like all the other breeds I love, Beaceron people do not suggest these dogs are for everyone and devoid of any specific traits. From the Beauce club website: "....Beauceron is not a dog for novice owners. This breed requires an experienced, dedicated and active owner as they have strong personalities...."
It continues to be insanely frustrating to me that people "advocating" for Pit Bulls push these dogs on the general public and attempt to make them MORE popular. It is a vicious cycle, I fear, and will continue to perpetuate itself until I don't know WHAT will happen to the breed I love so much.

Absolutely agree. The new "pit bull" advocates are dangerously narrow minded in not seeing the big picture with regards to the pit bulls are for everyone mantra.

I so feel you on this. Yesterday I had a big case of the irrational and emotional "why's" Why are there so many mean, stupid people? Why are there so many abandoned, mistreated pitbulls?

Yeah no kidding. I get in this mode sometimes and just for a moment want to leave the planet, taking all the animals with me. Peace out, humans. Blah. Then I get back down to reality and keep moving forward. Sigh.

AFF is not only on a mission to turbocharge pit bull adoptions, but to wipe off the face of the earth any notion that the APBT (aka "pit bull" dog) is unique in any way and may not be appropriate for all owners.

I truly think the majority of the problem lies in the fact most advocates these days are basing their support of the "breed" on their experiences with the available dogs that pass as pit bulls. They are not even remotely like real Pit Bulls. They may have their moments, but the vast majority of pet pit bull owners would not want to associate with most of the ADBA type dogs, or even UKC dogs. I bet they would even say that they are not indicative or representative of what pit bulls are like. They are advocating for mutts. Mutts ARE for anyone.
IOW, they wouldn't know a Pit Bull if it didn't bite them on the ass. But I still don't understand where AFF is going with their crap.

Spot on Dave- which is why so many of them not only ignore breed traits but down right discount them all together. They are not dealing with the traits that we as real pit bull owners often deal with.

Why are they selecting dogs like that?

When I had cable I loved to watch Dogs 101 on animal planet. How many times did they say, This breed may not be for everyone.... then they'd list off the challenges.
There is a movie being filmed with a cute little pit bull puppy. A lot of people are excited about it, but I'm not. Yes it can put the breed in a good light. But that just means more idiots will want one. It's not a good thing for the breed in my opinion.
