Inara & Mal today

Major day today for the furballs. Mal really interacted with Inara in a confident way and she was very polite with him. It was so beyond fantastic for me as I just want nothing more than for them to snuggle together - we were THIS close today!

This was them lounging this morning, perfect lazy Sunday:


Then Inara and I took a two-hour walk with friends (she didn't react when the other dog snarked right in her face!!!) and when we got home, I pulled her bed into the sunshine. Well, Mal took it over immediately and Inara wasn't quite sure what to do:


But then she decided she wanted to be in the sun, so she tried to curl up on the bed with him. That was a bit much for Mal, but I was very impressed with both of them:


And then *drumroll please* Mal laid on Inara's bed WITH HER



You have no idea how awesome this was for me.

I miss having a cat. It's good that Malcom isn't completely freaked out by the dog.

I've had him about three months and he was pretty skittish at first, but now he's really starting to settle in. It's great to see!

That's fantastic, congrats on the improvement you're seeing. I know how exciting it is when you've been working on getting animals to try to chill around each other. Inara is so cute, in the vid she looked disappointed that Mal got up and walked away LOL

She really did, didn't she??? I think she would enjoy snuggling with him as much as I would enjoy seeing it happen. It'll happen, I'm sure of it. And I'll cry. My last cat attacked Inara (I ended up euthanizing her as she had mental health issues and was declining), and my heart cat, Toonces, was very elderly when Inara was young, so he just kind of avoided her. Poor Inara tries to play with my mom's cats when we go visit. She just really likes indoor cats! Outdoor cats, not so much. But indoor, she loves!

I love watching the dynamic between dogs and cats. It really is cool watching the two seperate species interact. I'm getting used to having a cat around again (Toby, the kitty I am temp-fostering) and I plan on socializing my new pup around cats like crazy because I do expect to get a kitten in the not too distant future.

P.s. How is that book on Buddhism? I've been wanting to pick that one up.

Yeah, it's neat watching them figure each other out. Mal likes to rub his head against Inara's, and weave under her belly and between her legs. Inara still sometimes nervously raises a leg or hops over him like she's unsure what he's doing underneath her. And she'll playbow at him and kind of bounce at him, and Mal just freezes like "WTF?" Very cute.

It's really good. I'm taking an Intro to Buddhism class at my Zendo and that's our supplemental reading. I'm glad I'm taking the class as the book alone wouldn't be able to adequately explain some of the concepts. But overall it's really good. Worth the money.

That is adorable. Paints a good visual and it's making me smile.

Good to know....I've been wanting to take an Intro to Buddhism class at a semi-local Buddhist center.

It's been really fascinating - I'm actually taking refuge in the vows at the end of the month and becoming a Buddhist. I've been an atheist for years, and I really love that Buddhism doesn't have a god, but instead just is extremely grateful for all the teachers in our lives - people and animals. I also love that it acknowledges we are all buddhas, we just need to work to find it in ourselves. It's a really amazing religion/philosophy.

Thank you, I'm really excited. I started there just for meditation and just got sucked in by everything about it. The Intro class really sealed it for me. It's kind of funny/cool, my business partner is a Buddhist (she's the one who got me interested in meditation) so now Pit Bull Zen will be owned by two Buddhists. Very zenful!
