Have them all but the Plenty in Life one. Worth buying? Is there info in it that isn't elsewhere?

Have them all but the Plenty in Life one. Worth buying? Is there info in it that isn't elsewhere? The whole concept of managing/"leading" your dog without being a so-called leader is new. The book is just super enjoyable to read, and may help you see relationships in a new light. Not just dog relationships. She's all about communication and not control.

Wanted to add, as well, that it's a little bit memoir-esque. I happen to love Kathy Sdao, so the personal stuff she puts in the book was really enjoyable to read.

Is there anyone else who couldn't get past the first chapter of MERLES DOOR? So many people recommended it, I finally got it to read (actually the audiobook version). It's one thing to anthropomorphize... I actually don't have any problem with that. But putting thoughts into a dogs head? CONSTANTLY? Reading your own wishes/desires into a dog? PROJECTING your hopes/needs onto a dog and claiming that's what a dog is?
no, not for me.
It seems like the boy's version of "The secret life of dogs". Dogs just HAVE to be free... damn the consequences.

Dogs just HAVE to be free... damn the consequences. It was given to me as a gift a while ago and I too never got that far into it. I then lent it to a friend and she said she could not get into it either. Maybe I will give it while again and I will be reminded why I never read it!

I read Merle's Door but disliked it. I won't read Pukka because he's so much into "dogs need to be able to roam or they are being tortured."

^That's really sick.
And I never read Marley and Me because the casual dog owner stories where they are irresponsible and think it is cute just aren't for me. Cannot stomach them.

Oh no, I must have missed this thread! I just started Pukka's Promise because the author will be doing a book signing at PDog and they want us all to read the book. I'm only a few pages in and so far enjoying it. It sounds like he really did his research and I think it may be worth reading. I guess we'll see when I get further in!

Cat, I thought Pukka's Promise seemed interesting. I'd love to hear what you think when you finish it.

Maybe I'll do a blog about it if I feel inspired. I am definitely seeing the anthropomorphizing and it doesn't seem all that accurate, at times. So that may be bothersome, but I do feel like there is probably some good info in the book because he really did his research. So, I'm going to stick it out for at least the first few chapters.
