Two pit bulls killing and hurting other neighborhood dogs, but doing nothing wrong
Other dogs wandering onto the property getting attacked

BLUE RIDGE, Va. — Some people in Botetourt County say two pit bulls are terrorizing their neighborhood. But the pet owner says the dogs stay on his property and he isn't doing anything wrong in the eyes of the law.
We know the two pit bulls have killed at least three dogs and injured others. Neighbors say the dog's owner isn't doing his part to keep their pets and kids safe.
At the top of a hilly neighborhood is a cul de sac, the only flat part of Sherwood Drive in Blue Ridge in Botetourt County. You won't see small children playing here.
Shiobhan Cline says these two pit bulls are forcing her and other parents to keep their kids inside.
"God forbid they cross an invisible line they can't see and go on their property, we have no legal hold on anything because it's their property. Yet, those dogs are sitting killers," Cline said.
Cline is concerned her daughter Madison could wander into the yard like her dog, Sadie, did last Friday. Sadie went into the pit bulls yard and they attacked Sadie.
Her legs are scratched her jaw is broken, and she's currently in an animal hospital on a feeding tube.
"There's been many dogs that have been killed and attacked in this neighborhood," said Cline.
The owner of the pit bulls says he's doing nothing wrong. The pit bulls are inside an electric fence, and he says the neighbors need to do a better job of keeping tabs on their own dogs.
But neighbors say the pit bulls have gotten out and attacked or chased other dogs.
"There's been times where the power's been out and we've had records of the dogs getting off the property," said Pastor Scot Finley.
Pastor Scot Finley had a dog get lost after a snow storm three years ago. It was attacked by the pit bulls and later died.
"Wandered over several blocks and unfortunately went onto the property with the pit bulls and unfortunately wasn't fast enough to get out. The pit bulls tore into her quite a bit," said Finley.
Neighbors want a physical fence or for the man to get rid of his dogs altogether. They're not just worried about their dogs.
"Dogs that are territorial like this don't really differentiate between a dog and a small child," Finley added.
The dog owner says he's sorry about what's happening, but it's not his responsibility to do anything else since he has an electric fence up. He also says the dogs present no threat to little children, something the neighbors refute.
There is a leash law in the neighborhood.
They agree the dog owner is not breaking any laws. If he's got his dogs contained by a fence and they haven't gotten out and hurt any pets or people, he's following all the rules.
