Do you identify your dog correctly by breed when you register and get its tags?

Yes, but only because the BSL was overturned here, and before that she had an exemption tag so I didn't have to comply to the BSL.

We tried to register Sunshine as a Pit Bull. In our town, Pit Bull is not one of the breeds in the registry system so he is officially 'Mixed Breed'.

It has been so long that I am not quite sure what I registered her as initially....think it was Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. At the time I was probably afraid of putting ABPT...obviously calling her Staffordshire Bull esp. in todays climate would not really help either!

I always use my dogs' correct breed for licensing. I wouldn't live in an area where I had to worry about BSL. I'm very adament that we should be open and honest about our dogs, and avoid at all costs pretending they are something else or hiding what they truly are. This of course barring any immediate threat to the dog's well-being. This is totally just my opinion though and I really do understand those who believe they are safer to just state "mixed breed" or something along those lines.
Speaking of licensing, I had to go to court last night and see the judge because I failed to *license Luca who passed away last October*. I've lived in this town close to 30 years and have had probably 10+ dogs, and I've never had a situation like this occur (my dogs are always licensed and when they pass away, that's that). The funny thing was that it was mandated I had to see the judge, and couldn't just give the clerk proof I no longer had Luca. Of course the ticket was dismissed but I just found it odd - waste of time/tax payer money. The judge was cool though, very much a dog lover and he was very impressed that I had had Luca for 15+ years.

^ That whole thing is/was one of the most ludicrous things I have heard of....not just having to go to court to prove it but actually seeing the judge. A letter/fax something should have sufficed.

I am a pretty big fan of registering your dog as the breed they are as well, except of course if that would put your dog in danger.
That being said, Roxy is listed as a mixed breed. Her breed mix is anyone's guess. The folks at Wisdom Panel couldn't figure it out (I know that doesn't say much, but that means she's a multi-generation mixed breed), but I have heard guesses from veterinarians, trainers, shelter workers and volunteers, and everyone with a mouth that range from "Purebred Pit Bull" (which I find laughable considering she doesn't even come close to the breed standard) to Plott Hound mix, Australian Cattle Dog mix, Lab mix, Greyhound mix, and Dutch Shepherd mix.
And Buster is listed as a Vizsla mix, which I think is a pretty decent guess.

Saxon is registered as a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. BSL is illegal in Maine, so I didn't feel worried to register him by his breed.
