Not sure where to put this so I'll stick it here.
Darcy was telling me about someone who had come in wanting to adopt Griffin, who is now an 8 month old fixed male pit bull. At the time this person came in, Griffin was fairly new, and hadn't been fixed yet.
The person wanted to adopt him un-neutered, and got pissed off when he was told it was against policy. He 'told' the worker that they 'had' to let him have the dog since he was paying for it. *whatever* The guy did't get what he wanted, so he went to file a complaint with the city about the shelter. The shelter put his name on the no adoption ever list. I can imagine what he was told. *lol*
So then some lady comes in to adopt Griffin. She has a rescue blah blah blah. No need to fix him, she'll do it.
The rescue was unknown, and couldn't provide details. She didn't get the dog either. She turned out to be the guys girlfriend.
That idiot happens to be one of my neighbors, who has the dog called Chica, and also a white pit bull. Last summer I was forever catching Chica and taking her home. I filled her water bucket almost daily because she would knock it over. I gave him better tie outs, a new collar that fit her better. I tried talking to him about animal care etc. I had decided that if he didn't provide adequate shelter for her come winter, I was turning him in or finding his dog a new home. He finally put up an outdoor kennel, etc. I was sadly unable to turn him in come winter.
Might sound shitty of me, but the dog has a shitty home. Now he has two and they spend 95% of their time outside alone.
I will say this about a small town. The people on the board of directors at the shelter, some are very well known and influential in the town. The police and sheriff dept have no qualms about sharing information. Also, people tend to know people who know people.
